Lingerie Ads Turn Heads At Mall
(SF)
Some Shoppers Call It 'Soft Porn'
GILBERT, Ariz. -- "Soft porn." That's how some moms shopping at a new Valley mall describe large posters of scantily-clad women hanging outside a Victoria Secret's store.
The store is located at the new SanTan Village, which had its grand opening last week in Gilbert.
The posters display bigger-than-life pictures of women dressed, or barely dressed, in their bras and underwear.
The Gilbert town council said a shopper has complained that displaying the posters this large and prominent is making the mall an unfriendly habitat for families.
Officials at Victoria Secret's headquarters in Ohio did not comment.
A council member said the town doesn't plan to do anything about it because that would be censorship.
The council member recommended if shoppers don't like it, just don't look.
Some shoppers asked about the posters said they don't view them as offensive.
"I don't see a problem," said Sheila Eckhard.
"They're not really showing anything," she said.
