So many rotten movies so litle time. I can open my window and smell HOLLYWOOD cranking out their dreck.A couple of the worst movies I had seen recently was: Bertilucci's The Dreamers and a real gem called: The Swimming Pool.A close runner up was so bad,I even forgot the name.It was about a guy that kept flashing back to an incedent in his childhood.I'll agree on how bad The Thief,Cook,Wife and Lover was bu there was a silver lining in it.Helen Miren.I know, she is an older lady but my God,@(&^$#%@*^^......If you wan to see her at her best, she played the lead roll in Calendar Girls.

I recently watched that and spent almost the whole length of the movie saying WTF?
The acting was really good, imo, and the story was mostly cohesive... just maybe not altogether present. lol

Lil...you know me pretty well, right? I barely EVER get to see a movie in the theatre. So, what I do get to see is probably better to me than to some of the more critiquie (word?...is now!) type of people who have seen as many movies as Siskel and Ebert (yeah...I know Siskel is dead...but I prolly ain't seen a movie since he had a chance to critique it...lmfao!).
Anyway...my point? I get to see movies when they come to "On Demand, Pay Per View" or on regular TV. I love Stephan King and I've never liked any of his books that they've made into TV movies!
I was a "Tommy Knocker" addict! That book (as do most of SK's books) had me paralyzed till I could finish it. I had to take it everywhere I went. I ignored people I love just to read one more paragraph. I snapped at Mr. Lixy when he rushed me out of his mother's house and I left the book behind...and, I made him drive me back so I could get it!
When they announced that they were going to make it into a movie for TV...I was all over that like white on rice.
IT SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry...but any story they do of SK's...just doesn't translate when they do the screenplay!
COULD SOMEONE PLEASE DO JUSTICE TO A STEPHEN KING BOOK!

Yes, Lixy, they certainly do horrid things to some of SK's novels... The Lawnmower Man was pretty bad(and nothing like the book), Salem's Lot (1977) UGH!, some of the made for TV movies have been pretty bad too. Never saw The Tommyknockers, but I think I mentioned before, that book did not hold my interest at all. Dare I say I hated it? Mayhaps...
But there are some GREAT King films... The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, and Misery were top notch in my opinion. I enjoyed Secret Window and Dreamcatcher too, though some people didn't care for them so much.
And keep an eye out for The Mist... it's from the book Skeleton Crew and is slated to be directed by Frnak Darabont, director of Green Mile and Shawshank. It will probably be at least a year, but it should be very good!

I agree on the Cook, but Helen Mirren has always been sexy.
I loved the special effects in "I robot", but Susan Calvin was never a spunk, and the cyborg
Will Smith just was never.
Plan 9 was the worst of all.

Pet Sematary. It was so bad that as soon as Fred Gwynne (known to us older folk as "Herman Munster") said "the ground's sour", everyone in the theatre started laughing. And, it got worse and worse.
