	| Galatea,
I just read the announcement that Condoleezza Rice will be the nominated for Secretary of State. Whoda thunk it? Not my first choice, but then again, I'm not saddled with that responsibility.

	| I think its an awesome idea personally. But I don't like to talk about my preferences of politics. It only leads to conflict because everybody has their own ideas and I don't like to argue. Same with religion. I just tend to stay away from talking about preferences. Lets just hope she or whoever takes his position does good by us. |

	| I like Rice being the Secretary of State and I would like to see Gen Tommy Franks as Secretary of Defense. I like Rummy fine but I think he might go and Franks would be a visionary in that position. |

	| Travelinguy,
The position of Secretary of Defense is usually filled by a civilian with some military background. The last career officer to fill that position was George Marshal in the Truman administration. Not that General Franks couldn’t do a fine job, but the other services might perceive a (real or imagined) prejudice towards Army.

	| I think that in most administrations, cabinet members tend to stay for only one term in one position. With all the stress, I'm not sure it's worth it.
Actually, I don't think leaving is an unusual thing ... even for really good people like Colin Powell.

I can't imagine how his wife put up with his traveling so much or why any married/family person would want that job.

	| My theory is that he's distancing himself from Bush so he can run in 08.
But I'm just a goofball on the internet...what do I know?
Like Galatea said...I just hope they do us right.

Sounds like SOMEBODY may have borrowed Liliths whip.....

But yeah...I have heard he's resigned to live a private life with his family. You can't blame him for that.

As for 2008, the race is going to be Hillary Clinton (D) vs. Rudi Gulliani (R).....mark my words.... |

	| Any news on who will take Condi's place? Or, is GW still on vacation back at the ranch?
These decisions worry the shit outta me! That White House is getting nuttier by the day!

	| Bush said that Rice's deputy, Steve Hadley, would succeed her as national security adviser.
