But that is the main reason that winter is so depressing.......less sunlight and more darkness (days are shorter and nights are longer). Light therapy! It's a scientific fact......the human body needs the nutrients from the sun (vitamin D, for example) and when we are deprived of this nutrient........a temporary depression can be the result!
