we can have all seasons in one-day!-----not bad for such a wee country!

fzzy 02-06-2003 03:20 PM

LOL -- all our season are pretty close to being the same ... but I do love the longer days of summer!

Imagine the plight of our friends in Alaska! Six months of darkness.........I'd say kill me!

But that is the main reason that winter is so depressing.......less sunlight and more darkness (days are shorter and nights are longer). In Alaska..........and anywhere, for that matter, where a person doesn't get a mininum amt. of sunlight per day.....the result can be depression (cabin fever round my parts). But,there is a solution! Light therapy! It's a scientific fact......the human body needs the nutrients from the sun (vitamin D, for example) and when we are deprived of this nutrient........a temporary depression can be the result!

OMG......there's that nonsensical trivia again!

THINK SPRING!!!!!!!!

Of course, if you were in Alaska and wanted to watch a late night movie, you'd need snacks that would last months. And think of the time you could spend curled up by the fire. Or, can you imagine saying, wake me in the morning. Hee hee ... maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Just have to take a positive attitude on things. :D :D

( Actually, I don't think I'd like it either, but trying to show an open mind ... receptive to the possibilities. )

Hey this is my first post, but I just wanted to say that winter in Alaska is not depressing, despite the rumors. It's amazing, this winter we've had a warmer season than the poor folks on the East Coast US. As of right now, there is NO snow on the ground, it's all melted, and today it was a decent 44 degrees, yes, in Alaska, in Feb. But this is not normal, usually it is very cold right now. We deal with the darkness just fine, we usually end up sleeping more in the wintertime, kind of like hibernating. But in the summertime its a whole different ball game, we get TONS of light, all the way through midnight! So you can imagine that the whole town is active in the summer time even at 12am and sunny outside..

One good thing about winter is that sometimes the cold drives you into bed with your lover.. :D

Thanks for listening to me on my first post, I know it was lame.

One of my ways in the past to help me get through the winter depression was to go tanning at least once a week.Theres no doubt in my mind that helped. This winter though i haven't gone at all and i definately see the difference.Although my skin is thanking me for not going lol.

scotzoidman 03-01-2003 09:00 AM

Around here we haven't seen the sun in weeks, except for a few minutes here & there...it's always cloudy, cold, raining, snowing or about to...the seasonal depression is getting to everybody, some people are going to the tanning booths just to have a warm bed for a few minutes...

What a pack of sad-sacks.

Winter is the time it's best to go to bed and spend ages there.

It's also prime nipple-time for those so interested.

Here in the tropics we miss out on both, so spare a bit of pity for us.

LOVE WINTER
LOVE THE SNOW!!!
Give me MORE!!!
