Question How do you relieve stress at work?

I have a question, Work stress is very commonplace, and I'm sure we all suffer from it.

How, what, do you do to get some levity into that stressful situation?

As some of you might know, I work at a fast-food joint. When we and the other closing crew get just slammed with customers, and things are getting frantic we need something to just let us relax for even a second.

This is going to seem strange, and you might even think I (we) are complete idiots, but ..............

One (of the many) things we do when it is like this, is usually one of the managers will say the word "Marco"..and the crew will respond "Polo" , and usually it alllows us to take a breath and smile. We don't do it at inappropriate times..but it gives us even a second to relax.

How do you do it?

Unfortunately for me, in the position I hold I am not allowed levity at work.

Which is why...I'm seriously considering not staying on there.

I'm glad you are able to find a way to make it thru a day at work nutworld.

In my trade, smartasses abound... 4 guys in my dept., highly stressful workplace, the gallows humor flows like a river day in & out... would be a great sitcom, but for the censors...

Stress relief for me is quite simple, although a bit unorthadox

Airfreight can be fun.

Little dear comes in, babe in arms, collecting a "carded" parcel

or in to send a gift to cousin freddie's daughter, and you look at

her sternly." I'm sorry, but there seems to be a problem Madam."

Fleeting look of panic.

"You'll have to wrap the child better if you want to send it".

Sadism lives..

As much as I dislike my job, I guess in this way I am quite blessed. For 99% of the time, I don't have a boss or supervisor looking over my shoulder. And it's only on a very rare occaision that I actually have any personal contact with any of my customers. I deliver papers in the wee small hours of the morning. So, most of the time I'm alone in my vehicle...free to say or sing or do whatever I damn well please. Only stress factors are time, as in I have to have them all delivered by a certain time or some customers will be calling at 1 minute past my time to complain. The other stress factor being car problems...thank God for cell phones!! Don't have to hike for miles looking for a phone in case of problems...
I don't envy you Nutworld...I've walked in those shoes before and I'd never want to do it again.

If i get stressed at work i just go out. Im lucky as my work takes me out and about a bit. so i just go out for a while and relax.

Now when im at home with the kids thats different. when one of the kids has annoyed me i am stressed for a while after and any little thing they do really pisses me off.
So i could do with stressrelief at home.

I find it absolutely necessary to flirt outrageously with everyone who comes in the office

eating lots and lots of chocolait is also very conforting.

We can also surf lovely sites on the internet and pretend it's research - 'horse hung espanics' was a bit of an eye openner!

We flirt outrageously with each OTHER at work.

I believe that I made a comment about "sexual harassment" in another thread.. I should have said that we border on it..but its just our way of flirting. No one takes it seriously. We ar all kidding and everyone in the group knows it.

If an outsider were to actually hear some of the comments we make though.....

I shudder at the thought.

Unfortunately in my work you have to look like you are constantly happy and coping,,,so I tend to relieve stress by flirting madly with MrX by email...thank god for anti glare screens hiding my email from my boss!

*bump* my stress relief often comes through my finger tips - I had silly putty at my desk that I would massage through my fingertips while I worked away - alas it got lost in the move somewhere, I'll need to buy somemore.
