Virginia Zoo & Aquarium (two different places) are within easy reach of VA Beach.
The Zoo is technically in Norfolk: http://virginiazoo.org/ for their website. Norfolk is essentially next door to VA Beach:

Whereas the Aquarium is in VA Beach itself: http://www.virginiaaquarium.com/

Have a safe and fun-filled trip, Teddy Bear! We'll look forward to hearing about it!

I really liked Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens. These are all pretty much within an hour or so of VA Beach.. In Virginia Beach they have the boardwalk, plus tons of shops and stuff.

Thank you all, kleclere, DB, and BIBI, for the happy thoughts. Also Thank you too, gg and Loves2Laugh. for your suggestions. We will look into doing a few at least.
A large chunk of time will be just hanging out and relaxing. The house we're renting is one street back from the ocean and it has an in ground pool !!! And then theres shopping !! Hope a week will be long enough.

And if you like outdoorsy stuff, there are several state & national parks within reasonable driving distance.
