He once told every kid watching his TV show...
to take all of that dirty money out of their mother's purse, and mail it to him. Throwing pies was his trademark, and we all tuned in for the general mayhem created by his improvisational humour. Soupy Sales died today,he was 83. A huge part of my childhood went with him.

Soupy was not part of the Aussie scene, but it's sad to see the names go anyway.

Soupy Sales was not one of my favorites, but I hope that he rests in peace now.

My favorite memory of him was when he told the children that his wife & he
got very romantic at baseball games. He said that he kisses her on the strikes
& that she kisses him on the balls! When he said that, the TV screen immediatly went black as the network hit the kill button! Irish

I do not remember watching his show. My husband does and told of one in his memory.
Soupy had a little side-kick named 'Pookie'. He and Pookie where on screen. Soupy held up a piece of paper with the letter 'F' on it and asked Pookie what letter it was. Pookie said 'K'. Soupy asked again, 'Pookie what letter is on the paper?' Again Pookie said 'K'. To which Soupy replied, 'Why do I see F, you see K?' (F U C K)
Combined with the other things the network hit the kill button over, this may be what brought the end of his show.
