Great Stalking Songs.
Many of the heartfelt love-songs of our youth don't stand up to the light of modern day. I refer to the hyper-posessive songs we all know and sang along to.
How many can we collect, "The Stalker's Album"?
My opening shot is "Slipping Away". Baby I've been watching you, watching everything you do . . . .

There is the quintessential old Police song, "Every Breath You Take".

Hey little girl is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire

"If there's someone
Walking behind you,
Turn Around, Look At Me"
A buddy of mine was helping me move, & while walking directly behind me began singing this very tune...I pointed out that doing that song nowadays would get ya slapped with an injunction...

Oh, & how about Screaming Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You", with a little voodoo & some Dom/Sub themes, for those who like their stalking hot n spicy...

"Possession," by Sarah McLachlan.
And I would be the one
To hold you down
Kiss you so hard
I'll take your breath away
And after I'd wipe away the tears
Just close your eyes dear

While a lot of these are possession songs adressing the intended, the creepy ones like Slipping away and Every breath you take are truly scary.
"I will follow him" is pure stalker.

I love all these songs but this one gets me-
I Want To Come Over- Melissa Etheridge
I know you're home
You left your light on
You know I'm here
The night is thin
I know you're alone
I watched the car leave
Your lover is gone
Let me in
Open your back door
I just need to touch you once more
I want to come over
To hell with the consequence
You told me you loved me
That's all I believe
I want to come over
It's a need I can't explain
To see you again
I want to come over
I know your friend
You told her about me
She filled you with fear
Some kind of sin
How can you turn
Denying the fire
Lover I burn
Let me in

Great one, AZ, I'd completely forgotten that one...all the more scary 'cuz it really was quoted from letters from a creep who had been stalking Sarah; then, just to twist the knife, he sued her for plagiarism...
The Beatles "No Reply" has some creepy stalker aspects, not to mention "Silhouettes", from which Len/Mac borrowed liberally...

I knew it was from a real stalking of Sarah, but I didn't know he sued her. Wow. Nice.
The Beatles had some other scary lyrics, too, like in "Run for Your Life":
"Well I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
You better keep your head, little girl
Or I won't know where I am
You better run for your life if you can, little girl
Hide your head in the sand little girl
Catch you with another man
That's the end'a little girl"

I have had to explain to some people that the Death Cab for Cutie song "I Will Possess Your Heart" is not a sweet song.
"Number One Crush", by Garbage is also sort of stalkerish, but very very sexy.

This from "Blue Eyes"
Sinatra made stalking fashionable!
I'm walking behind you - on your wedding day
And I'll hear you promise - to love and obey
Though you may forget me - you're still on my mind
Look over your shoulder - I'm walking behind
Maybe Ill kiss again - with a love that's new again
But I shall wish again - I was kissing you
'cause I'll always love you - where ever you go
And though we are parted - I want you to know
That if things go wrong dear - and fate is unkind
Look over your shoulder - I'm walking behind

The great thing about the Beatles song, years later John Lennon redeemed himself with: I'm just a jealous guy.
