Transitions: Don LaFontaine (Yes, you do know who he is)
Or at least you know his voice.
Imagine there was a movie about Pixies.
Now imagine you're about to see a preview of the Pixies' movie while at the theater.
Imagine the trailer is showing someone typing at a computer and you hear something like the following being spoken over the video...
"In a cyber-world of real people..."
That voice you hear in your head would be that of Don LaFontaine. Easily the most recognizable voice-over artist ever. He has passed away at the age of 68.
Movie trailers will never be the same.

Saw this today, along with a vid clip of Mr LaFontaine being interviewed by Harry Smith...Harry asked a question, & when Don started to answer Harry had this goofy grin the whole time...I understood why, when LaFontaine spoke you expect the echo chamber & kettledrums to begin at once.
I agree, Aqua, hard to imagine watching movie trailers without his rumbling baritone...

Just one of those things that always was, or seemed to be.
So long Don.

As a professional in the business, I could only hope to be 1 BILLIONth as professional as Don LaFontaine. He was the consumate pro.
He was, and will remain an inspiration to me, as I try and work my way up the ranks of radio and commercials.
