The book was *much* better than the video, but they were both fairly lousy -- too much gore, and not enough plot IMHO.

I agree with osuche... I think the plot was too contrived. It saddens me that Thomas Harris sold out on this last installment. The other Lecter books were so amazing. I think he was just rushed into writing the book and the screenplay.

That being said, I did like the actor playing Hannibal.

I tried to read Hannibal Rising. Just found it so difficult to read, I thought it was a waste of trees to be honest. Found the other 3 sooo much better. Red Dragon is the best in my humble...
