DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- On the eve of Biktoberfest, the city of Daytona Beach is getting ready to crack down on strip clubs.

An appeals court recently upheld the city's strict nudity ordinance.

Though club attorneys plan to take the case to the United States Supreme Court, police won't wait.

Women are topless at Lollipops, the Pink Pony and other gentlemen’s clubs around Daytona Beach, but a cover-up is coming soon.

"It's in violation to be nude in the alcohol establishments," Daytona Beach Deputy Chief Steve Beres said.

As thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts are set to roar into Daytona Beach for a wild weekend, police plan to saturate strip clubs with law officers looking for violators.

"The dancers themselves can be arrested, the management can be arrested. The business owners themselves can be charged and we could take the business itself to the code board," Beres said.

The city ordinance not only bans nude dancing but skimpy cover-ups are out, too -- no g-strings or pasties, club dancers at least have to wear bikinis.

"To do this during Biktoberfest is intended to bring about one result and that is to damage the business if nothing else," one club attorney, Brett Hartley said.

Hartley represents Lollipops and got a letter from the city last week warning of the crackdown.

The city provided a copy of the ordinance, and an image of the bare minimum a dancer can wear.

Though the clubs lost at the appellate level, Hartley believes the Supreme Court will hear their case for free speech in the spring and thinks it's financially reckless of the city to enforce before that.

"We've shown that we are willing to litigate our issue all the way to the bitter end, and if they’re wrong on this they'll pay. They'll certainly pay," Hartley said.

Lollipops said it has no plans to dress up the dancers.
