Internet Explorer 7.0
I got the update today, this one is going to take some getting used to! I hate the address bar and back/forward buttons being all the way at the top instead of at the bottom of the toolbars.
Anyone else do this update? What are your thoughts?

maddy,
While I prefer Netscape 8.1 for personal use, I've been using IE7 at work in test for a bit now, and while there are changes to the UI that take a bit to get used to, I found it to be a major improvement. We do a lot of weblications where I work, and we needed to be confident that they wouldn’t break with IE7.
I found the tab groups easy to configure and maintain, and you can subscribe to RSS feeds via the browser. Another feature is the addition of a text box that lets you search directly from the browser rather than through a dedicated webpage. I like the fraud protection that changes the color of the address bar to red when you hit a known phishing site. You get a pop-up warning if the site you are visiting engages in suspicious activity.
But let’s face it, as the first upgrade to IE in five years, IE 7 is still an effort by MS to catch up with other browsers, as these “new” features have been available for a while in browsers such as Navigator, Firefox and Opera.
Still, give the Devil his due, all in all, a good, sound upgrade. Recommended.

I'm getting used to it but I like it too - upgrades always have some change - after a while, you don't even notice them anymore

One of the IT guys at work told me it doesn't work with our Web-based work platforms so I don't think I'm going to see it in action. I'm fine with my current platforms at home.

I'm still rather suspicious. The purpose of upgrades is to make certain things no longer work properly.

I hear you gg... I've been reluctant to upgrade for the same reason.

Firefox is where it's at.
I just got Firefox 2.0 this past week and it took a bit to get used to links from sites going to tabs instead of a new window but that didn't take too much. Plus the fact that it remembers what pages you had open when you logged out is cool beyond belief. The automatic spell check is just icing.
The Stumble! add on is pretty damned cool too.

I've been much frustrated with IE7... trying to make things stay the way I like them.
The other thing is that it tends to slow down the longer I have it open. But only on the first instance after start-up. If I close and open another session, things are fine again. Strange, but also something others have noticed.

I'm not impressed with Firefox at all...in fact today I d/l Opera to try it out. There are ALOT of bugs in Firefox still.

Gentlefolk,
I took the plunge last night, and migrated from Netscape 8.2 to IE7. If anything, IE7 is a bit quicker than either IE6 or NS 8.2.
I did discover that the maximum number of tabs permitted in a Home Page Tab Group is 8.

I like it...been playing with it for a week. But then again, I'm not a demanding client as long as Pixies works.

I've had it almost a month now and like it fine. I haven't got used to those tab things and still keep my windows opened at the bottom of the tool bar.
