Unpopular Stance
I am going to say it outloud.
I did not care for the Pirates movie Dead Man's Chest.
I liked parts but overall it just reminded me of another movie, a saga about the battle between good and evil and in fact at one point I even remarked, "Is this like the cantina scene?"
How about you guys?

My unpopular stance? I don't see movies in theaters. They're too expensive. And I have a hard time sitting still for 2 hrs.
Seriously, I've seen 3 movies in theaters in about 4 years (and yes, one was this week...Da Vinci Code....for bargain Tuesday night).
So, Lil...sorry but I haven't seen it yet. Nor will I, likely for about 6 months. I'll find thhis thread then.

I don't go as often as I did when I was a student and got a discount. I have Netflix and just can't pay the $8.50 to see a flick usually. We save it for special events.

He was good in it but Depp was watered down and not terribly comfortable seeming like he was in the first.

My wife and I enjoyed it. Don't know that I'd try to compare to the first, but we thought it was fun. I've been to other shows that I thought would be good and enjoyed them far, far less.
I think I always enjoy both Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp; and, I think Keira Knightly does a great job.
Of course, we only paid $5.50 each for tickets. That helps.

I think you have a point when you compare it to other films. I think I just loved the first one so much I may have had too high of expectations for this one.

I didn't really like it because I felt that it opened more story lines than it closed. I mean, I know that the third is already filming, but I think that a movie should be able to stand on it's own. This one just felt rushed and that they ran out of time to really do anything with it.

She said "sheep".
I didn't like the second movie as much as the first. I'm sure we'll end up with it on DVD because the kids loved it, but I agree. Depp seemed less animated. Though I'm sure I'd be less animated if Davey Jones were comin for me...Arrrrrrrrgh!
