Why Is Race Still An Issue...?
Why is race still an issue in today's society? I am constantly baffled by the multitude of eyes on me and mine when we're out and about. I know we look good and all but please you're staring too much people. Seriously though it is quite an annoyance that people overlook that one common courtesy of not staring someone down. Next on my list is hypocracy and the twisted logic of the racist mind. It's easy to tolerate someone as long as they don't come near your circle of friends, your family, or the general vicinity of your your person. Maybe I'll understand it all before I reach my 200th birthday.

Don't count on it.
The concept of "like unto like" is deeply buried in religion.
The tendancy for ethnic groups to clump together has always given rise to an "us and them" mindset, with the associated unconscious thought of "why are you not with your own clump?"
It won't get fixed anytime soon, so accept that the relationship is more important than the negatives and get on with it.

Yep...just remember not all people are like that
Fat, skinny, bald, disfigured, special needs people, little people, black, white, whatever else....also deal with predjudice on a daily basis
Get over it....some people are rude its a fact of human nature

Race is still an issue because many people find hate easier to deal with than love. They fear the unknown and find it easier to find differences than to look for similarities.

Race is still an issue because we don't eat enough Krispy Kreme doughnuts. If we did, we'd all be happy and there'd be universal love.

I've watched it a number of times. It's a great movie/musical. I recommend a good musical for when you're feeling down. It really lifts your spirits.

Souls race issues will be with us for as long as we all look and sound different, the good thing is there is not as many as there once was and in Xanadu where you come from for everyone who stares at you there would be 5 who dont. I myself consider i am not and have quite a few freinds with different back grounds (not that this should make any difference) the only oeople that affend me are the prople that use race as a means for getting there own way or trying to change my culture and way of life

I once heard a wise man say, "you can't expect a couple of centuries of legislation to overcome a million years of tribal instincts"...I filed that away in my "Sad, but True" folder, & have continued with my lifequest of hoping for the best but expecting the worst from human nature...I like to think that we're showing some signs of evolution due to the fact that at least public lynchings are no longer considered acceptable (as they once were within my own lifetime)...

There is deep-seated racism/prejudice in all walks of life, not just color, but religion, ethnicity, financial, etc.
To say we should live in a world without prejudice might be nice, but also naive. Everyone has some sort of prejudgement inside them. For the majority of people, it is not hate-based as others have suggested, just a fear of the unknown. As one gets older and has family and property to protect, you tend to want to make sure those are protected. I could give examples but as you will see below, an open, honest discussion is a ways off.
Personally, I believe that until an OPEN discussion can be had about prejudice, nothing will be solved. Everyone is so sensitive now, that feelings and thoughts are kept private and people think and do things behind closed doors. Whereas if everyone were more open about their feelings without fear of backlash, then a true discussion could move things forward.
Also, the actions of a few of course dampen what the whole tries to accomplish. This is true for just about every segment in society.
Oh well, my $.02.

Why is race and issue?
Because we let it be!!!!!!!
And as far as the staring...My parents told me it was not nice to stare so I do my best not to. But I do catch myself looking at things I dont see often. When things like piercings other than on the ears came into being more seen I did catch myself staring. I watch people. I wonder about the things they like or are curious about them. I do watch things like two women together, two men, and couples. If some of the couples happen to be mixed, so be it. My watching or staring is just me being curious. Living down in the south I have centuries of raisen to go against. I am taught one thing but except something else. That itself is a constant battle.

One of the quickest ways to help me find my temper is to use the race card when things don't go your way. I wish I had a dollar every time at work a person of color was chewed out for not doing their job the right way. The first words out of their mouth were something along the lines of how their civil rights were being violated or that the supervisor was racist. If incompetent people could just understand that expectations on the job were there for people of all colors, things would be a lot easier in today's workplace when it comes to this subject.
