Transitions — Richard Pryor
He died of a heart attack at his home in California.
I really enjoyed his “Silver Streak” and “Stir Crazy” movies with Gene Wilder, but I looked him up in IMDb, and he was in a BUNCH of films!
He was only 65 years old, but he had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis.

Funny, funny man. It saddens me to hear of his succumbing to a terrible affliction.
He was one of the first comedians I ever heard use the F word. I seem to recall he really liked it. ha ha

My guess, since this was not his first heart attack, would be that the MS was not the major factor in causing his death...very tragic still, we need more people to make us laugh at ourselves, not less, & this day we are poorer by one...
For me, his most memorable routine was when he described his heart attack, had me ROFLMAO as he made a lie out of the phrase, "as funny as a heart attack"...

He was one of my all-time favs. Back in the day, my friends and I used to listen to his tapes with hours and hours of laughter. He was one of the greats for sure. Another sad loss for us all.

Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois ... he'll be deeply missed. A very talented man who did his home town proud. Probably not known by many outside this area, his grandmother ran a string of brothels in Peoria and he was basically brought up in that atmosphere. That's really how he first encountered the vaudeville crowd.

A man that was ahead of his time. He fought a lot of demons and while he was never at peace, he gave us all a laugh or two. May the rest of eternity be kind to this gentle man. He will be sorely missed.
