Christmas Letter
Tell me your thoughts... do you send one? Do you have a unique way of writing yours that sets it apart from the others? Do you enjoy reading the ones you receive? Do you think they are self-serving bragging of egotistical members of your address book?

I send one. I love reading everyone else's. I just tell everyone a little bit about what is going on in the lives of all the people in my house.

I've done one since I started having children, and I do it for them and no one else. As busy as life seems to keep me, I don't have the time to scrapbook or diary like I'd like to...but, by doing an annual letter, someday my children will have a record of some of the highlights of their childhood.
All that being said, I look upon the annual task with dread. Once I start writing, it seems to go fast, but I must *force* myself to begin. I know that my relatives and a lot of my friends look forward to my annual missive, and I've been told how funny and entertaining it usually is...which, of course, only adds to the pressure of maintaining that same effect from year-to-year. I do enjoy reading the letters of others, although I have one friend who insists from year-to-year on writing (I kid you not) a three-page letter--FRONT AND BACK. Sad to say, it's pretty tiresome, and I unfortunately end up skimming most of it. My rule has always been one page, front and back, at most, and it seems to work okay.

Oh do I understand IAKG, I've had some people tell me that I've missed my calling and should have been a columnist and it's a lot of pressure. This year has been chaotic and I'm having a very difficult time putting a positive spin on it and not sounding whiney. I tried to write from the four legged creature in my house perspective and it's just not working. I guess I'll try another day.

I've never sent one, I seem to always run out of time. I like to read them, especially from friends and family that you only seem to here from at the Holidays.
