I was just wondering if anyone has this that could possibly help me. Within recent months I went for an ultrasound, and rather than finding nothing this time, they found abnormalities. So I'm hoping that someone here knows something about it, and how to go about finding out if I do for sure have it. I can explain in greater detail in pm if needed, just not too keen on sharing too much info =) no offense... just not comfortable with it sometimes.

Have your doctor explain it, or go to your local Women's Health Clinic and get the word straight from the professionals.

Also, try www.endometriosisassn.org or one of the other help groups listed in Google.

Hi there. I have endometriosis and would be more than happy to answer any of your questions. I found out I had it about 5 years ago and have had 5 surgeries to try to just have some comfort in my life.

It can be very painful and it is hard to find a doctor that will actually help you with it since it is hard to determine.

The only *real* way to see if you have it is by laproscopic surgery (thru your belly button)...then they can see how bad it is, etc.

It's been the story of my life, I'd be glad to help you what I can.

Thank you Oldfart. That website helps a lot. I've requested an info package, so hopefully I'll know a little more than I did before when I go to see my gynecologist on the 17th. =) thank you so much again, it added a lot to what I already knew.

I've had the pain for more than 2 years now, and before everyone always told me I was making it up and that I couldn't be in that much pain... that I must be faking it. It's taken until I think it was september for the doctors to realize that there IS something wrong with me. And it didn't help that I had little support from those in my life before I found out. But I think it will be alright now, I have someone in my life, who when he found out, did everything he could to find out about it and to try to help me through the realization process. And he hasn't stopped caring since.

I do have a couple of questions though, the lapracsopy surgery... is it a day surgery? Or does it take longer if they feel they need to remove the tissue? I've heard a few different things, so I would like to know from someone who has gone through the procedure. As well, is it uncomfortable while it's healing? Or do you not even notice. And should you take time off work/school to stay home and rest, or is it okay to continue with what you were doing before the surgery?

If you feel some discomfort or pain during sex (but only when in certain positions), should you refrain from sex completely? Or just those positions. And I heard that getting pregnant often will get rid of the disease (I think it was webmd that said this) in a 40-60% chance. Is there any truth to it?

This site has helped me considerably. I too have been diagonosed with this. I have gotten so much information from this site. It also talks about so much other stuff from surgeries to nutrition. I spoke to my gyno about the symptoms, and I named almost all of them (except a few, I checked on the website) and she said it didn't sound like endo at all, but a digestive system problem. But the thing is I was tested for every stomach/digestive system disease my specialist could think of. If she continues to insist that I don't have it, I should find a new gyno right?

I'm glad to hear you have someone helping you thru this. Most importantly, you need a doctor that will support it and help you out. I went to years of specialist trying to find out what was wrong with me, I knew I wasn't crazy and FINALLY found a doctor that knew all about it and it just made sense. I had the laproscopic done first and they found I had stage 4 endo, it was everywhere. Sometimes it can be in a ball other times it attaches to your insides. I was in so much pain for such a long time. Yes, sex became a problem for me, hurting very badly (in any position) so husband didn't want to hurt me anymore.
The laproscopic surgery was an outpatient surgery for me. I have a small scar at my belly button and was bruised afterwards there. I did it on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. The most pain for me was the gas pressure that they put in you to look around. During this procedure is when my doctor found it all over the place, my ovary and falopian tube ruined. They cleaned what they could up and the next surgery was to run dye thru my tubes, the right one ruined by endo. Next surgery, removed my tube and ovary and I felt soooo much better it was unreal. Sex became part of my life again too! That surgery I was out of work for 6 weeks. Then I had some more to check it out. Each time they went in (after cleaning it the time before) it would be back. I was put on Lupron shots to stop my period in order to have some time for my body to get some relief and it was great!
After I found some comfort, I decided to have a hysterectomy, knowing that is the only way I would ever feel better. My doctor didn't want this for me and sent me to a fertility specialist to get a second opinion. I had no children. We went to the specialist, did several fertility treatments to just be told my body couldn't do it. We gave up on that part. I later became pregnant on my own and now have the most beautiful baby ever. My endo was on hold during the pregnancy and will be as long as I breastfeed. When I stop that, it will return with periods. I DO NOT look forward to it.
Yes, find a doctor that will help you with endo...there are so many that don't really do anything about it because a lot don't know why we get it, etc.

i am not saying that this will give you the answers and of course there is a catch. You have to pay a price for your diagnoses. But what i used it for was the questions. Reading through all the questions made me think of others i wanted to ask. It is however very indepth.

And to your question about your gyno. A second opinion is always good. I recomend it you are not happy with your result from this gyno. then by all means find another one. Here in the states we have a number we can call and get information on doctors in our area. There specialities, there results,
even how many children they have, if they have ever been sued...all kinds of things. You might be able to call it since it is a 1-800 number.
