Artwork
I know there's a thread about somewhere, but I wanted to start a new one... I'm seriously considering some redecorating. I've grown tired of the ecclectic collection of artwork that is upon my walls (or still in boxes) - much of it is poster sized prints framed cheaply (plexi covering rather than glass). I'm looking for something I can display on the walls of my great room (living/dining combo) and master bedroom. Give me ideas ... please ... or at least share with me things you like.

My furniture is mostly mission in nature, clean simple lines. I've not really figured out my "style" so to speak. I have a strange monet, country, kim anderson blend going on that has reached my peek of liking. I've reached a point where I can't just keep holding on to things because they were given to me or because I had spent some money on them. I'm leaning toward florals, but have seen some abstracts that drew my attention as well. I want something timeless - or that's my goal anyway.

I know this sounds crazy but try eBay. I found a beautiful painting or 89242987 I loved there and then had someone copy it.

Had not thought of ebay, but will give it a try... thanks for the links
I should also mention, I've recently taken a liking to ironwork as well - something I believe is near and dear to you Lilith. I picked up a square piece this weekend at a local store for $5! I'm not sure what I will do with it yet, but I really do like it and for $5 how could I not?

take your digital camera and capture close-ups of architectural features or nature in all it's splendor (at this time of year, unless you want mums, go to an indoor garden show or nursery) it's cheap and easy. just take 'em to a do-it-yourself print shop and blow them up as large as you want. frames, however, are not cheap unless you can get a deal at the good will. i also have a few prints in the l/r that i found doing an image search on google. just make sure you search for large images that are of good quality.
just recently, i did two abstract paintings (much easier than trying to paint in perspective) for our place and it's really pretty simple. get some large stretched canvases, they’re fairly cheap and there’s no need to frame, just varnish after a several months and you can wipe of any dust. one i made using all the colors we used on the walls and the other is oils. just get yourself 4 or 5 different size brushes and slap it on going in different directions. if you hate it, let it dry, re-coat with white and you can start all over.
