Facial Advertising Space??
I just read this in my local paper this morning...
Los Angeles: A US mother had the name of a casino permanently tattooed on her forehead after auctioning off advertising space on her head to pay for her sons school fees, she said yesterday
Karolyne Smith, 30, turned her head into a permanent billboard after a large online casino offered her $US10,000 ($A13,109) to indelibly emblazon it's name on her face.
"I really want to do this," said Smith. "To everyone else, it seems like a stupid thing to do. To me, $10,000 is like a $1 million."
"I only live once, and i'm doing it for my son. It's a small sacrifice to build a better future for my son," she said in a statement issued for the casino company GoldenPalace.com.
What do y'all think of this?
What would you do for your kids future?
Would you do something like this?

if that is really what she wants to do, then more power to her i suppose. seems like there would be a better way of coming up with funds, but i suppose i don't know her whole situation. if i had children i'd do anything for them. i also like to think though, that i would have prepared better and wouldn't have to get a tattoo on my forehead, but sometimes crazy things happen

I think it is interesting is that the Golden Palace is gobbling up these bizarre auctions.
Nope I wouldn't do it....well if my child were ill etc. I'd do just about anything.

I think it’s another sad commentary about a SUPPOSED advanced country when anybody has to even consider such a thing to provide one year (at best) of education for their child. Knowledge seems to becoming something only available to the privileged. ………….. again.
On the other hand, ………. With the amount of space between my eyebrows and my hairline, both my kids could be doing post-doctoral work for the rest of their lives.

Too bad that $10,000 will only pay for about a semester at a " good school" and she'll have that thing for the rest of her life

The school my kids went to last year was $A45/child....that covered any text books and all books required to write thier work in, all school based activities,
You had to supply: Uniforms..were not complusary but preferred, they varied in price obviously
Pencils/Pens :as required through the term
Outside school activities: generally you had to pay bus fare around $3.00-5.00/ event
The school my boys currently go to is different with regards to text books....you get given a requirement list (for the year) cost for both boys for this year was around $A300...then we replace items, eg: pencils...pens etc throughout the year
School based and Outside school activities is the same as previous school
The above is a public school
Private schools fees are higher...approximately $2,000/term...some more some less

I think they were referring to the cost of a year at a university.
Public school here is free. Sports can cost, and you have to buy supplies. Textbooks are free too.

Kaelynn, public school is free in Ohio too.
I spend the cost of a forhead tattoo on a year's tuition, books, and supplies at my college basically.
