Inconsiderate People!!!!
My 12 year old son had his very first band concert tonight...it was so precious
Now..on to my bitching! My son asked me today if I could pick up a little boy that was in band with him that didn't have a ride and, of course, I agreed. My son then called the friends mom to verify that this was the plan and she said, "I appreciate you doing this, I have to work and will not be able to take him. I will be late to the concert, but I will be there."
Sooooooooooo, we leave and it is dark and pouring rain. This friend of my son's lives at the end of a very dark (no white lines, no lights), very curvy road and I was not happy about driving it, but I had made a promise. After driving about 4 miles on this road (doesn't seem that far until you try it on a dark, wet, curvy road!), we come to the friends house and what do we find?
THE DAD WITH HIS SON IN THE CAR LEAVING THE DRIVEWAY FOR THE CONCERT!!
Would a phone call from this child's parents have been too much to ask!
Thank you, I will now hush and just mumble to myself lol

Did the dad acknowledge being aware you were coming to pick him up?

Oh yes PF, he said, at 6:10, I didn't think you were coming, it's late.
I left my house, as he was informed, at 6...was I supposed to teleport?

You have every right to be pissed off. As long as it doesn't come between your son and his friend, you'll have handled it quite well I'm sure

Yeah it sucks : ( As a child care provider I have had my fill of rude, inconsiderate parents over the years.

The interesting thing about some adults is that they often do things they would never tolerate their children doing.
I don't have much patience for rude, inconsiderate people.

I can relate. My wife does "Before and After Care" at the grade school (watching kids after their parents bring them and before they're picked up in the afternoon). One time she was there until after 7:30 (they're suppose to be picked up by 5:30) because the lady decided to do some shopping and didn't want to be bothered having to "drag her kids along." No phone call, nothing. Like our family had nothing better to do.
She was asked to pull her kids from the program.

To do that here would cost you AU$15 per 10 minutes past the time you are sposed to be there
And after a certain time the kids are handed to the police where you have to go pick them up....and you'd better have a good excuse...as it can lead to you being charged for child abandonment!

So...yeah TT...why didn't the dad plan on taking the boy himself in the first place? Didn't he want to see the concert? Did he think this is a "mommy thing"? Did the mom not want to burden the dad on such a lousy night? JHCOAB! I can certainly understand your attitude!

TT - I can appreciate your frustration, but you have a lot of positives in the same post... how wonderful for your son to be a caring and thoughtful friend to be concerned about his friend not being able to get to the concert. Truly the telltale signs of positive parenting.
