&*^%$ I Broke It &^%#$
my Microsoft Works!!!!! I am up shit's creek! My Microsoft Works will not open, not the task launcher or the word processor or the spreadsheets. I have Word too but the problem is that I have a zillion class assignments, lesson plans, files for here that I have stored as .wps and none can be opened :madfire: Worse I can not find out what version I have so that I can uninstall and reinstall a stolen copy...er I mean replacement  I tried to open the .wps files on my old 98 system with Microsoft Works 4.5 but they would not open
I have an XP and need to be able to open these files...anyone have any ideas?????

Have you tried opening it in Word? There may be some slight glitches, but I think Word has a converter built-in. If that doesn't work, try opening it with notepad. Notepad won't allow for fancy formatting, but it will allow you to read the text components of whatever it is you are working on.
Just in case you didn't know, to open a file using a program of your choice, hold down shift+right click on the item. A list will appear at which point you can chose "open with...." and then choose whatever program to open the file.

TY I was able to get it!!!! My old Word did not have a converter but the new Office version does ...*does happy dance* TY

Thank goodness I read this before driving all the way to your house!
now I don't have to worry about all of my time being spent on the computer!

Let me guess you installed SR2 for XP? If you did...this is why it broke. =)

SR2=Service Release 2 other wise known as SP2=Service pack 2. You might even know you did it if you have the automatic updates on
