A Real Blockbuster Post!!!
What was the last movie you rented?
Would you recommend it?
How often do you rent?
Would you rather just wait a little longer and buy the thing?
As for me, well to be honest I haven't rented a movie in years! But since rental companies such as Blockbuster are doing so well I guess someone must be..........are YOU that person?

We've been doing a lot of that Cable "On Demand" thing. Saves us from having to take back the movies. The last one we got from that was The Looney Toons- Back In Action. Cute..and Brendan was in it..so... *sigh...drool*

We have "Starz On Demand"on our TV.Also PPV.You can order movies, right from your remote. The Starz has a monthly fee as in
the HBO channels. There is a preview button,so that it tells, what
is on at what time, for PPV.Whenever we order a movie,I also tape
it on my VCR,so that others-daughters,grandchildren,etc.,can watch it at another time.As said, there is no return-time/trip! Irish

Netflix here too. Were you aware that if there is a movie on DVD (you can check the International Movie Data Base to find if it is out on CD), you can request Netflix to acquire it and they will add it to their list?
I've asked them twice and a couple of weeks later, the movie was available.

I've just discovered the cable "On Demand" thingy too Eliza! OK...it's been there from day one when I had digital installed, but I just got around to checking out the schematics of it all. It's great! I know I'll see alot more movies now cause the movie store isn't so close to me and I used to have to rent for the week long rental so I could have time to see the ones chosen and then time to take them back. Now, with On Demand, I have 24 hours to watch a movie and can pause and rewind like a rental. Geezzzzz, I'm blabbing again, huh?
OK...last rental w/On Demand was Radio! Fanfuckintastic movie! Blockbuster may hate this On Demand thingy!

Last movie rented was Time Line, with Paul Walker
Yes, I would recommend it. It was good.
We go through renting phases. We won't rent a single movie for 5 months, then go in, and rent nightly for 2 months.
When we aren't renting, I buy a lot of dvd's if they look good. If we're in a renting phase, I'll buy if I really liked it, or wait until the video store starts selling copies, and aquire it cheap.
I don't go to blockbuster anymore. I can't see spending $4 on a new release that I only get 1 night.
At Family Video, the new releases are $2, and brand new, they are 1 night, about a month later, it's a 3 nighter, and about a month after that, you can take it for up to 5 days, or 1 night, and the price is different for them- $1.50 for a dvd for 1 night, or $2.00 for a dvd for 5 nights.
Plus, if you rent on Tue, Wend, or Thur, you get a free $1 rental for every new release you grab. Their nearly new relases are 1 each, as are old release dvd's, and favorites. If you can't find any of those, regular video old releases are 2/$1, so you can get up to 3 different movies for $2.
And all kids rentals are free.

Oh, we also do a bit of pay-per-view, because we can see it even if we're broke, and we don't have to leave the house. Down side is that it's $3.50 a shot.

Gilly---I don't know about where you are located, but on our access, the PPVs are different prices. The menu on the screen, not
only tells the starting time but also gives the cost. One of my Sons-
in-laws works for Comcast(installer/trouble shooter)If he lives in the area, covered by them.He tells them at the office & he gets it
sent to his house for free!It pays off,to check the prices, for the
individual PPVs,because some are very expensive. Irish

Yeah, the new release movies are 3.50, porno's are 9.99, and sporting events depend on the event.
My friend used to work for AT&T Broadband, and got hers all free, too.

Last movies we rented? Cheaper by the Dozen, Something's Gotta Give, and Brother Bear. I loved them all!
We rent at least once a month, depends on how much extra money we have, if any. Sometimes we rent every week. Especialy since we had to shut off our satellite.
We rent from Hollywood Video. It's about $4 for a new movie but it's not due for 5 days and if you bring it back by midnight the following night a lot of times you get a $1 credit. And I like the midnight deadline, makes it easier to make sure it gets back.

The midnight deadline is SOOOOOOO nice. I remember the days of 6pm, or you get fined!!! UGH!
Family video does something similiar with a new release. If you rent it early enough in the day (or, at anytime, I would guess), and watch it and return it before 8 the same night, you can pick out another new release, free of charge.
Ooo, I also like their late fee policy. If there's a late fee that's under $4, you can choose to pay it or not the next time you rent, and if it's over that, you can choose to pay some of it, or half, and save the rest for another day.
They are also really cool about if you forget your money. I have done that a time or two, and they ring it up on your account like a late fee, and still let you take the movies.
