I truly love African American literature and poetry. Things written in black vernacular being my very most fave.
I heard this read today and my mind drifted immediately to someone I wanna kiss.
Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)
A Negro Love Song
Seen my lady home las' night,
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Hel' huh han' an' sque'z it tight,
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Hyeahd huh sigh a little sigh,
Seen a light gleam f'om huh eye,
An' a smile go flittin' by --
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Hyeahd de win' blow thoo de pine,
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Mockin'-bird was singin' fine,
Jump back, honey, jump back.
An' my hea't was beatin' so,
When I reached my lady's do',
Dat I could n't ba' to go --
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Put my ahm aroun' huh wais',
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Raised huh lips an' took a tase,
Jump back, honey, jump back.
Love me, honey, love me true?
Love me well ez I love you?
An' she answe'd, "'Cose I do"--
Jump back, honey, jump back.

My True Love Has My Heart
by Philip Sidney
My true-love hath my heart and I have his,
By just exchange one for the other given;
I hold his dear and mine he cannot miss;
There never was a better bargain driven.
My true-love hath my heart and I have his,
His heart in me keeps him and me in one;
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides;
He loves my heart for once it was his own,
I cherish his because in me it bides.
My true-love hath my heart and I have his.

Love
There is the love of beautiful maid,
And the love of a staunch true man.
There is the love a newborn babe,
All have existed since time began.
But the purest of love, the love of all loves,
Even greater than the love for Mother,
Is the deepest, passionate, and tenderest love
Of one dead drunk for another.

An angel, robed in spotless white,
Bent down and kissed the sleeping Night.
Night woke to blush; the sprite was gone.
Men saw the blush and called it Dawn.
Love this one by Dunbar as well. I get such a beautiful mental image.

She Walks in Beauty-George Gordon, Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress
Or softly lightens o'er her face,
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
And on that cheek and o'er that brow
So soft, so clam, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent.

The victim knows who he is.......
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
by Teodor Vingarzan [Theo]
Thinking of you
Just thinking of you, makes me alive
my heart, my soul
my eyes, they feel....
You are so special to me
and before Thee
today I DO…
kneel.
Love comes before you know
glad to get, painful to throw
taste the bitterness,
start drinking the sweet..
Be brave, take the chance,
Every new one is ....unique
Life is a fight , so fight is with care
Don't spend your life admiring your hair
When feelings just bloom and you feel alive
Take a step forward and follow your sight.
C'ause if you don't risk
You'll never gain back
The feeling of wonder, of awe,
Amazement in fact…
C'ause if you don't risk
And you never kiss
Your life can’t become
Perpetual bliss
Let your heart sing
An ecstatic new song
Learn from your mistakes
It will make you strong.
Take a chance in life
Let heart show its feeling
Reborn be again...then....
A kiss given is...forever ....
A blissful, candid...
touch of...HEALING

Prince of my heart
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
by Adela-Adriana Moscu
What a relief is when you're here
From all those feelings of regret
That you cannot be always near
To have you as my dearest "pet".
PRINCE OF MY HEART come, and embrace me
With all the love that you could show,
With gentle touch come and caress me
That you love me, please let me know...
Your lips are still touching me gently
Your arms ares still embracing mine,
Your scent is pleasing me so faintly
Of happiness you make me shine.
My heart is beating now so strongly
My lips are whispering your name,
My cheeks are burning me so warmly,
For all of this are you to blame ?
I want to hold you dear forever
So I could have this sweet delight,
I wish that I could really never
Have to let you go from my sight.
I try to push away desire,
At least just for a little while,
All I can do is just admire
Your picture with that lovely smile.
I try to stop the wish to see you
So many times within a day
I wish that I could plainly love you
And not mind everything you say.
You have a strange way to possess me,
That is for me hard to define
The power with which you conduct me,
And change the whole world that is mine.
I was so lonely and so sad when
With just a word you made me worse,
I still remember those days when
With just a glance you made me yours.
I wonder if you are aware
Of how dependent I could be
On all the moments that we share,
And on the love you have for me.

BCG beat me to my favourite however
Indian Serenade - Percy Bysshe Shelley
I arise from dreams of thee
In the first sweet sleep of night.
When the winds are breathing low,
And the stars are shining bright:
I arise from dreams of thee,
And a spirit in my feet
Hath led me - who knows how?
To thy chamber window, Sweet!
The wandering airs they faint
On the dark, the silent stream -
The Champak odours fail
Like sweet thoughts in a dream;
The nightingale's complaint,
It dies upon her heart; -
As I must on thine,
Oh, beloved as thou art!
Oh lift me from the grass
I die! I faint! I fall!
Let thy love in kisses rain
On my lips and eyelids pale.
My cheek is cold and white, alas!
My heart beats loud and fast; -
Oh! press it to thine own again,
Where it will break at last.
Dedicated to all the lovely ladies of Pixies Place that would let me enter their chamber

The following poem was written in January 1944 by my grandfather. He wrote it for my grandmother while he was serving in WWII, and wanted her to know the depths of his love.
To My Love
My Dearest one, I love you more
than all this world can hold.
With all it's treasure troves of gems,
and all it's hoarded gold.
I love you more than all the stars,
pinned to the sky's soft breast.
And more than life itself, my dear,
I love you much the best.
I want to share the hours and
their laughs and tears with you,
because you are the star that shines
on every thing I do.
And so these lines are written, Dear,
that you will always know
That all my life! Until the end!
I'll always love you so.

Con Te Partiro - This song is fantastic in it's original italian. Perhaps the most romantic song I can imagine...
When I'm alone
I dream of the horizon
And words fail
Yes, I know there is no light
In a room where the sun is absent
If you are not with me
At the windows
Showing everone my heart
Which you set alight
Enclose within me
The light you
Encountered on the street
I'll go with you
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them
When you are far away
I dream on the horizon
And words fail
And yes, I know
That you are with me
You, my moon, are here with me
My sun, you are here with me
I'll go with you
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you

My newest fave....
It's all I have to bring today.
This, and my heart beside.
This, and my heart, and all the fields,
And all the meadows wide...

Sorry Lil... 'twould be impossible to keep this one anonymous...
Of Adam's first wife, Lilith, it is told
(The witch he loved before the gift of Eve,)
That, ere the snake's, her sweet tongue could deceive,
And her enchanted hair was the first gold.
And still she sits, young while the earth is old,
And, subtly of herself contemplative,
Draws men to watch the bright web she can weave,
Till heart and body and life are in its hold.
The rose and poppy are her flower; for where
Is he not found, O Lilith, whom shed scent
And soft-shed kisses and soft sleep shall snare?
Lo! as that youth's eyes burned at thine, so went
Thy spell through him, and left his straight neck bent
And round his heart one strangling golden hair.

Music, when soft voices die
by Percy Bysshe Shelley
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory,
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.
