@-8--A Rose is a Rose--8-@

1) Should Pete Rose be allowed to participate in organized baseball?

2) Should he be in the "Hall of Fame"?

3) Would you have different answers to the above questions if you found out that not only did he bet on games but 'fixed' them as well?

Lilith,

1) No

2) Yes

3) No - it would be an issue to be resolved through the judicial system.

1) Who cares?
2) Who cares?
3) Really, who cares? Sportstars get caught doing thing much worse and much more illegal and still are allowed to play.

BTW, did OJ ever make it into the hall of fame?

Lilith,

In Oz, we call this push-polling.

Several genuine questions are asked, then something like

"If you found out that Bill Bloggs was wanted in Tasmania

for offering boiled lollies to little old ladies, would this have any

bearing on how you'd vote for him?"

It's illegal here. LOL.

BTW, warned him about those boiled lollies.

1) YES! Ya think he'd ever try anything again under the microscope he'd be under? Naaaaaa!

2) Absolutely! He was a fanfuckintastic player.....who gave his all (and then some, so we found out)..to the game!

3) They'd still be YES! Doesn't matter to me now.....he's been abundantly punished for what he did!

Oh....and speaking of Pete Rose......just a gentle news flash that probably didn't merit a new thread........

Pete's friend, and former team member of the 1980 World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies......pitcher Tug McGraw died yesterday.........after a [not so long battle] with cancer.

1944-2004

R.I.P. Tug............you were loved and will be missed!

Just look at how many chances Daryl Strawberry got when he was using drugs.

This was an issue that should have been forgotten a long time ago.

Pete Rose is an ex American baseball player...musketeer. He was called "Charlie Hustle" in his day.....he was one of the best! He played with Cincinatti and Philadelphia.....and he was a 1rst baseman (I think....oh geezzz....yeah.....I think he was....I'm going around the bases...and there was Pete on first, [who] on second?....oops! I forget that too!, Larry Bowa was shortstop, Mike Schmidt was third base......forget the outfield...I ain't even gonna try it.......back in 1980! Trust us hun.....he absolutely deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame!

Pete Rose should no longer be allowed to participate in organized baseball.

However, his exploits as a player have earned him a place in the Hall of Fame

As to if he turns out to have fixed games...I guess for me it would depend on whether he had done the fixing as a player or a manager. If he were to be admitted to the Hall of Fame for his playing days and had fixed games, then I believe he should be removed. If however, he had been admitted for his playing days and fixed games as a manager but not a player, then there is less of an issue.

How is his gambling different from any other foibles that other players have demonstrated both in the past and the present?
