Security and Celebrations
Times Square looks like it's ready for war tonight..
Do you think there is to much security for the New Year's Eve Celebrations?
If in NY or LA are you planning on going?
Do you think HomeLand Seciruty is over doing it??
Just watching CNN and I know I would not let the terrorist stop me from partying it up...but just looking at the soldiers makes me shiver at the thought of being there....

I think I'd rather it appeared Homeland Security was overdoing rather than being shocked when all hell broke loose. It's a shame that the cowardice of terrorism has brought us to this but whatever it takes to thwart loss of life, so be it.

I think that for so many years the US had no pressing need for something like "Homeland Security". I think many countries already have measures like many of those recently introduced in place, and have for years. I think the news often shows us clips of the beefed up security to remind us that we need security, that something might happen, so we better stay tuned to the news.

Or just have the Queen come visit if you want security! When she last visited Newfoundland a few years ago, she stayed at a hotel near my place. Soooo many police, so many manholes welded shut, people tasting her food, etc., etc.

I asked around at work to see who would and wouldn't go to Times Square last night.....and everyone I asked said they would be there inna New York minute if they could.........
cept me!
I'm claustrophobic and I hate peeing in the street when there are so many people around! LOL! How do they hold it for so long? Some folks stood there for hours on end! And Spot-a-Pot's are so sporadic.....and just to get through the crowd to get to one had to be a bitch! To hell with terrorists (literally).....and get me to a potty!
Yikes!

Its different when we have to protect ourselves like the Heads of State, but I know of what you speak. Prince Charles visited Cleveland a number of years ago and stayed in a home across the street. They had scuba divers checking the water behind for a week before hand.
The point is that THEY have won. The way we live in America is changed for a long time to come. Our UNAWARENESS of it being the way many others have to live is the only true lesson we can learn. There are still MANY other things we can be thankful for. (but you may want to look quick)
