Who Pissed off Mother Nature?
Good Grief...
Here it comes again... another round of horrible weather very capable of putting tornados on the ground... I for one am damn tired of it.. living in SW Missouri it would appear that someone pissed off Mother Nature..
I know that MANY Pixie members live within the region most likely effected... so please everyone be safe...
I grew up in southern California.. this crap is new to me... and it isn't something I will ever get used to...

I'd rather have the tornados than earthquakes......at least with the twisters there is generally some sort of warning.
Being from Michigan, we got our fair share of tornados and thunderstorms, so this isn't that unusual for me. But I still have to learn how the mountains affect the weather here. (I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a former 'flat-lander', hehe )

One thing about a site like this... you make friends from all over the place... and when you don't hear from them and know that they have been in the path of some terrible storms you really start to worry......

I agree with you Cheyenne. When I know a storm or something is coming towards someone with whom I regularly chat with I worry for them. Senseless worry I know, but amazing what bonds you make on here.
And yes Jenna, you have pissed nature off...more naked dances in the streets...whooooraaaawww

uh oh.. how did you know that I did exactly that on Sunday morning.. guess that is what got her wrath started huh?
No.. that isn't the truth.. but if I thought for a moment it would get her happy again.. I would run out there right now naked ... but then I would have to worry about my neighbors...

Ah Jenna...you got our storms, eh? It has been super bad here this whole week. Tornado watches and warnings and actual tornados. It's not been a fun time. I wish you well through it all.

We were fine here, but one of my co-workers lost everything; her entire house was demolished. Mother Nature can be something.

Yeah, careful there Lilith, they had a named storm in April that was a first. I think it stayed out in the Atlantic though.
I was born in OKC, lived in Edmond in the mid-late 70s (Edmond is north of OKC, tonight's tornadoes that hit were in the SW part of town I gather, moving NE). Then we lived in Kansas 5 years. About a year after leaving Kansas, we heard the shed behind the house there got blown away in a tornado, but left the house in tact. NE Illinois hasn't been TOO bad, or again we've been lucky. Worst damage to us was 1984 (while I was running around in a full leg cast), when a huge hailstorm broke a bunch of storm windows and destroyed the aluminum siding. The biggie everyone remembers around here is the one that took down Plainfield High School about 15 years ago, not long before the school year was supposed to start. While at Purdue there was at least one that caused us all to storm down into the dorm basements and tunnels (yes, some of the dorms are inter or intra-connected by service tunnels). That one hit a trailer park north of campus and a service station as well, if I remember right. That had to have been in 1994.
And the one my grandparents remember is the HUGE tornado that swept through downtown Ft. Smith, AR a few years ago, completely devastating the place.

We had a tornado roar throught southside OKC, and the Moore area.
What is really strange, is that this tornado took nearly an Identicle to the massive tornado that hit the same area on may third 1999. They are believe this tornado to be an f3-f4 tornado.
Ironicly I was thinking of going to my gf. Its a good thing I didnt because I would have ran right into it, it crossed the interstate about the same time Im normally driving to her house...

Oh.......In times like these (the stormy seasons).....I imagine us to be a tiny speck in the scheme of things. I picture Mother Nature "cleaning house" so to speak. Replenishing the damage of the past year....if you will. Her force is such, that in her wake it seems the damage is greater than the clean sweep.
I don't mean to suggest that anyone killed or harmed by these forces are done so with purpose. I hope this doesn't sound as harsh as I think it might sound, but I have this mental picture of the forces at work here.....and this is just me.....so please forgive me if it sounds like I am lessening the big picture.
At times, when I sweep my kitchen floor I (accidently) sweep up a ladybug or a spider and it struggles to get away or dies from the force of my broom. I never kill bugs in my house....but instead try and catch them and free them outside by putting the more scary ones under glass with paper slid underneath (with the exception of hornets and wasps and flies.....dirty, scary critters). If one happens to die from my cleaning efforts I feel awful. This scenario seems to spill over to the bigger picture for me whenever I hear of storms and their damage. Such force and agony felt by people who are in direct line with these storms makes me remember just exactly how very small and defensless we are against the forces of nature and things that are "bigger" than us!
My heart goes out to all those in direct line of fire and my thoughts are always with my friends and loved ones when I know it's headed towards them! Be safe everyone......heed the warnings! *hugs*
