Walking on Eggshells?
I am hoping with all hope that this thought I am having comes out sounding as it is meant........
I NEED THE MODERATORS TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT TRYING TO INSIGHT A RIOT HERE!
I just want to state my opinion and seeing as the other thread (Political Politeness) got off track.....I didn't want to bring down the fun. I would have posted this there......but I felt as though the feelings had been conveyed and things had moved along. So I am saying this here.........and I don't expect any responses. As a matter of fact I WOULD RATHER STAND ALONE ON THIS......so as not to get anyone in trouble should this turn out to be the absolute wrong thing to do!
I have always heard there are several things you should NEVER discuss with friends and loved ones. Amoung these.....the list is topped by....Religion and Politics.
But I am a person of the nature that NOTHING is off limits. I can usually jump in and give my two cents on just about any subject. I've always prided myself in the fact that I know a little bit about alot of things! When I don't know anything about something that seems interesting.....I try and educate myself on the matter. I feel that everyday of my life I am learning. I try and take away something from every subject presented to me in any particular day. If I learn at least one new piece of information per day.....I feel as though my day hasn't been wasted and I am fulfilling the reason that I am even alive! If I take the information I have learned in that day and make a change for the better in any part of my life or in the life of someone else......I am elated that I have made it through another day and that not ALL is bad in the world!
When I found Pixies, I not only found a very sexy site to perv, I found a community of people the likes of which astonished me! Please bear in mind that I live in a part of the country (USA) where most topics are farming, cooking, laundry, children...etc. (I think you understand where that was going). But when I come to Pixies I find extremely intelligent conversation mixed in amoung all the silliness and sexiness! I've never intentionally try to ire or anger anyone! Some subjects can get pretty heated. Opinions fly and once posted.....unless you are quick like me (LOL!) they are out there for all to read again and again till the thread disappears into the archives, or till they are deleted by a moderator.
At Pixies, I have been told on several occasions that if I am offended by or have nothing objective or constructive or complimentary or helpful to say about any particular subject or post.......that I should not go to that thread. I should ignore it and just refrain. I've tried this approach on MANY subjects here. But there have been times when I could not hold my thoughts and posted negatively......ok, I did this ONCE and was reprimanded (and not by a mod. either). But the thread was bombarded by others who felt the same....and a moderator tried to steer it in another direction......to no avail. My point here is....the thread remained.........and passed away into oblivion as far as I know.
Recently I posted a thread to actually help bolster the feeling of pride as we go though some pretty uncertain times. In essence it pertained to the fact that in some way shape or form we are all related. And that if one of us is threatened by a mad (crazy/insane) man/women that we should ALL feel the threat and stand up for our own. That's REALLY all it was saying. I admit the thread did get off base at times and some people seemed to regard it as an attempt to put down other countries for their part or non-part in the current world situation. Some people got angry, some became silent, others just came to see where it was all leading. It was an ongoing topic of conversation for as often as each poster could get here to say something. I now found out before I could actually read it all....that the thread was becoming tense. Tempers were flaring and arguments were ensuing. I just wish I had an opportunity to engage/interject into the subject again and redirect (or clarify) my initial reason for posting it in the first place.
I want to thank ALL the people who posted to that thread (you know who you are).......whatever your feelings were! I respect and appreciate all that was contributed! I'll take all this knowledge and information with me daily. I learned alot of things that I hadn't really known prior to the contributions of the people that replied. I also learned that I should have been on the debate team at some point in my education because I could take a stand on either side of a subject and feel I had a valid and substantial point to share. But the most important thing I learned is........
MAYBE "THEY" WERE RIGHT WHEN "THEY" SAID........
Don't discuss Religion or Politics with friends or loved ones!
Thank You ALL for putting up (once again) with my ramblings!
Carry on........nothing more to see here......LOL! *hugs*

Very well put, Lixy!
I am somewhat amused by this whole political debate that has been bubbling below the surface the past few weeks. As I stated in another thread, any and all common SEXUAL topics are acceptable in this forum, but the political topics seem to offend... somebody. Step back, and feast on the irony in that.
I guess it comes down to the common thread that most of the members have here: PASSION. Passion for life, love, sex, and all facets of being human. Is it surprising to anyone that passionate people have passion in every facet of their life?
Never forget that behind every self-sculpted alias and personna that is here on Pixie's, there is a real human being reaching out and wanting to share with others. Although the common bond may be dealing with one's sexuality, the complex people that post here are dealing with more than sexuality. They are dealing with real life.
That being said, it seems that the world is headed toward war. There is a distinct possibility that many of our global family are going to be impacted severely in real life. No matter who is right or wrong on the political side of things, the human impact could be devastating.
Let's try to offset that by being even more tolerant and kind to our global Pixie friends and family, and making this a safe refuge for all that share this forum.

LixyChick---Don't let it bother you.Everyone looks at things in a different way.I know that in my case, some things that I have
commented on are not considered political,by me.To others they
are. What it amounts to is that you can't make ALL of the people
happy,ALL of the time.As one person here signs off-Joke them if they can't take a f--k!! Irish

A platform of eggshells is clearly an inappropriate place for an aries with size elevens.
I found the limit to my civility - there must be one even in cyber space?
I regret that I couldn't moderate myself sufficiently to the previous post with the result that others (you Jen) lost the chance to respond also. And I must admit that my post was my considered approach. I did go away and think about - passion and reason obviously don't always balance.
It was a great thread Lix.

Perhaps we need a "leave your sensitivities at the door" thread
where people can voice opinions in a controlled environment.
No abuse or incivility, but a place where if people are unwilling to
be confronted, they stay away.
Can't you just see it? "We'll take this discussion to THE THREAD!"
Just a thought....

A great group of people with varying opinions is all I see when i look into this place. Some staight forward and vocal, some that wait till the cream rises. Some with hopes that someday things will be heard and the ache in the neck from looking over your shoulder will go away.
