all went well

Mum's funeral went off well as much as one can. It was not morbid but celebrated her life.

Like the fact that she was dux of Launceston high school and became a highly skilled radio telegraphist in the WAAAF during world war 2.

mum ran a business for 40 years and made many life long friends through it and was made a life member of the George Town Bowls Club.

She led a long and fulfilling life so that is something that should be celebrated.

We had a family meeting between the four children and decided very amicably what should be done with various pieces of family memorabilia, furniture and the property.

Peter and David did not want to use the place as it holds too many memories for them, Trish could probably afford it but it is too far away to use seeing that she lives on the mainland and I cannot afford it at all. We will have to sell it. We all get equal shares in the estate. I will be spending the next couple of days with my brothers sorting out things then will go down the weekend after to complete the job.

As usual we all pulled together as a loving family. There were no disputes about anything and we all supported each other. If there can be a testament as to our upbringing then that speaks for how we are. We all have been involved in the community serving it as good citizens. There are no black sheep but a highly respected family in our district and the places where we have gone to live.

It was nice to meet do many people from St Leonards who came to see both mum and dad laid to rest. Dad was a Justice of the Peace and a City Alderman in his lifetime.

It is the end of an era and leaves those behind feeling proud but with a huge sense of loss.

My wonderful pixies friends also have been a source of comfort and support

God bless you all

Sounds like your Mum (& Dad) were well-loved members of their community ~ reminds me of when my Nan died... the Church where the service was held could hold 220 people (so the Vicar told us later).. there must have been at least 250 people in there that day, and another 50+ who couldn't get in! Brought a lump to my throat, I can tell you.

I'm glad you could get things sorted out between you & your family, without any strife... so often we hear of squabbles and fights about "who gets what" ~ my thoughts remain with you Grumble..... <<<Hugs in a manly-type way!>>>

GG, A life such as your Mum's should be celebrated. Since death is part of the human condition, while it is not looked forward to, it is best to make the most of it, which it sounds like your family did. Look back on the accomplishments of her life, so you may look forward to her lliving on within you.
