This storm is a doosy and Dicksbro, take shelter, it looks like it is coming your way. I wish safety for you and yours!

Thanks, Lizz. We did get some pretty powerful storms last night but I think the very worst may have snuck past us just to the north. Glad you're okay and hope the folks to the east of us do alright. I guess there's another chance for strong storms today ...
Spring is my favorite season ... except for these storms and the tornados they spawn.

my mother works in the downtown area of Iowa City and when she and my dad went in this morning for work, they said that it took out a lot of the center of town and getting to work was difficult
With all the wreckage and this being a big college town, no one was killed, thank G-d!
there was one fatality in the county southeast from here, the person was in a trailer home.

I'm happy to know you're ok and that the recent twisters didn't affect you, Scotz! I've been wondering how you fared.
Sorry to hear about your van window, Lizzardbits......but so happy it wasn't any worse.
Hope everyone else in the path of these storms comes out unscathed.

Sorry, I did overstate the death toll from last weeks' storms, it was only 12 souls lost during this go-round, which doesn't in any way diminish the tragedy...many more were injured, including a mother who shielded her young children from flying debris with her own body, suffered a broken back, & will likely be a permanent parapalegic...an extraordinary act of bravery, & an ordinary act of motherhood, IMO...
...I guess the higher number had come from the similar storms that hit west TN only a week earlier...

A fried of mine who still lives there sent me some pictures too. Looking at all of those places that I recognize that have been destroyed just gives me chills. I'm just glad it was things that were destroyed and not the people.

Amen! As bad as the loss of "things" can be, it's the people that are most important.
