re-unionization, what a beautiful thought! I had that thought as I skimmed quickly through the announcements made by both Kerry and Bush today... and afterward, the only thing I really retained was... if politicians, and Americans in general could be so darn civil, open, accepting, and willing to work together toward some common goals we would be a much better country for it. It's not possible that you will be able to get the American population (let alone the global population) to come to agreement on every issue, but we all can agree that we treasure things like our rights laid out by our forefathers... and preservation and protection of those rights is important. I think if we spend more time focusing on the common goals and wants... it will be easier to accept and overcome some of the points where we have varying opinions.

I know, it's probably time for me to sleep and step out of the utopia that I think in sometimes. But I truly believe if people could focus the energy they put into disagreement and argument for a cause (hopefully a beneficial cause) this would be a better place to live ... this place we call America.

But, alas I'm nearly completely off topic. It's interesting to me that CP is concerned about how the US election will impact her investment in China, yet we hear all too often from fellow Americans how we need to be HOME focused rather than global focused. I think that whatever the answer is to CP's question is irrelevant (to me) but rather a confirmation to the fact that US is a powerful nation and its actions and leadership have worldly impacts.

And my last rambling point, correct me if I'm wrong fellow pixies, but war happens, has happened before Bush, and will inevitably happen after Bush. To say we are in a war because of Bush and this is his downfall I don't think is completely fair as he certainly isn't the only President that led us there. Not to mention the US isn't the only nation that participates in wars. I'm no expert (and probably should keep my mouth shut for that reason) but I thought that there was plenty of civil unrest, guerilla actions, and other wars happening independantly of the actions the US is part of in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have been looking forward to a Pixies discussion on the ramifications of four more years - I wasn't expecting it to revolve around CP's unspecified investment in China - but why not.

To add my foreigner's view, I think at home and abroad we share the same apprehension. Namely that I don't feel any empathy to those who put Mr. Bush back in he White House, and I am sure they haven't the slightest interest in me. Whilst I would probably have been a happy fiscal republican under dear Ronnie, the Republican Base under Bush, I find too closed minded to share a table with.

The issue for all of us I think will be how much Bush will concede to a uniquely American sub group who elected him and how this will affect your internal freedoms and our external welfare and OK CP our economies.

I do think though that if Mr. Bush does try to invade anywhere else, he may find the International community polarised against him, and if he tries anything before the UK election next year, he will certainly lose his major ally Mr. Blair as we would vote him out.

Just to add my two cents:

Chinese Pussy asked a question about how a political issue in one country will affect the economy of another because she was concerned about it.

She also expressed her feelings on a war and on a political leader she has her doubts about, since these are issues that do affect her, despite the fact that she had no say in the election.

The fact is, that America being pretty much the most powerful country in the world, the politics there affect everyone, but unlike the Americans we have no say. If only it were a case of 'If you're not American mind your own business' but American politics is everyone's business, whether the rest of the world like it or not, so it's perfectly natural for us all to be concerned about the impact the election has on our lives.

In Britain all we can do is try to vote for a leader who won't behave like America's lap dog in the next General Election, rather than the spineless deceiver who currently asks 'How high?' when America says 'Jump'. If however, Tony Blair remains in power, we too, have another 4 years of George Bush's rule.

I think when we start dividing the world into "you people" we have stepped over a line here. If we can't have this converstaion with out hurting or pissing eachother off then let's not have it here.
