Then just really fixate until you fall asleep. Also tell you subconcious mind that you want to remember the dream. You should wake up while still in REM and remember the dream.

A warning: dont do this when you are drunk and disorientated as - I did once and ended up dreaming about large rabbits covered in jam - freaky
