Surprise, surprise...I love musicals. Poor kleclere, though...every time I make him watch one with me, he tells me the same thing: "It would've been an okay musical if they hadn't put all that singing in there."

...akin to nails on a chalkboard lol
I don't mind if music is itegral to a subplot such as a musical show etc...but when folks break out in song during a love scene etc.....where do all the musical instruments come from????
To each their own....

The first musical I remember seeing as a kid was "Cinderella" with Lesly Ann Warren. I thought it was great and have loved musicals ever since, movie or stage.
My family, lucky for me, enjoys them as well and we usually see a couple of live productions every year. We have a great local theatre, where we saw Sandy Dunken in "The King & I" this past fall. And we're not to far from NYC. We used to go to Broadway every year for a show but the expense got kinda outta hand. We also have a terrific summer theatre that has drawn several big names.
So many great ones, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Oklahoma, Sound of Music, Annie, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, King & I, etc, etc.
Aus-Belial, have you ever seen "Tommy"? Great music. I think you'd like it.

I caught Mr. Osuche singing to Miss Saigon one night.......and now I no longer believe him when he protests that musicals are girly.

I still dislike musicals. But glad that so many other folks can appreciate them. They are works of art of I think.
