there is absolutly no doubt that he was, and will remain, the biggest, bestest, bad-assest, mostest musician of all time the man truly had musical notes in his veins it ran thru him like the light of god and he was kind enough to share that with little ol' us. I for one am touched that he did and forever grateful as well.
as for one fav? couldn't do it not just one so it has to be all! love you ray your music will most definately live for 100's of yrs to come my heart is sad that you are no longer with us here but i am glad that you are not in any more pain. rest well my brother, for you earned it the hard way, schelagh

I was fortunate enough to be right in front of his piano at a Bluesfest a few years ago.
He's one of the few performers who could have his big band get the crowd ready with a few tunes and then out he came to wild applause.
That smile, that voice, those fingers . . .
RIP, Mr. Charles.

Ray Charles was a REAL national hero.It would be difficult to choose one song of his as a favourite.Everytime I heard him on the radio,I'd stop what I was doing and just lisen. He did a fantastic job singing Paul MaCartney's Yesterday.

I remember Mr. Charles on "Saturday Night Live" back in the 80s. Not only did he do a good performance, but he took part of a skit that closed the show.
Quite a talented performer.

Up in the mornin
Out on the job
I work like the devil for my paaay
I know that lucky oool sun
Has nothin to dooo
But roll aroun heaven all daaay
I fuss with my woman
an I toil with my kids
I sweat til I’m wrinkle an greeey
I know that lucky oool sun
Has nothin to do
But roll arou heaven all daaay
If lord above
Don’t ya see I’m pinnin
I got tears all in my eyes
Why don’t you send down that cloud
with the silver linin
Lift me up to paradise
Show me that river
Why don’t ya take me across
An wash all my troubles away
I know that lucky ol sun
He’s got nothin to do
But roll aroun heaven all daaay
