I just went to the local Curves this morning to see what they had to offer. I really liked the presentation and I signed up. Tomorrow will be my first day. I know I'll probably be sore after my first few visits from long-unused muscles being stretched. But I'm not going to let it stop me. No matter what eating plan a person follows, you have to get your body moving and I'm committed to doing just that.

way22hot: Thanks for the support....you're the greatest too!

dreamgurl: I appreciate the suggestion on the Subway wraps....I haven't been to Subway in a while. Sounds like a good alternative to some of the other fast food places. Thanks!

kiss: Thanks for the link.......I spent some time browsing there last night.

BIBI: That's how I got in this condition.....The See Food Diet. I see food and eat it.

Lixy: You're a real hoot!! Thanks for the encouragement.....it means a lot to me.

Question

SS---My wife has(for some reason)been on the Atkins Diet for quite awhile.I hate it because "I" don't want to lose weight &
everytime, that she goes on a diet,I lose weight!I have always told her that if she gets too heavy,I'll be the first to tell her,& she
knows that this is true. She & both of our daughters are always on some kind of diet.I don't know why!Women could weigh 50lbs,
& they'd think that they were fat! Irish
P.S.I don't know much about it,but lately,on TV,there has been something about the fact,that when the good carbs,go down,the
"bad" carbs go up in your system!

SS...actually the fast food industry has gotten aboard the low/no carb craze. Almost all of them have something low in carbs.

Talking

Me being a recovering alcoholic,I joklingly said to my wife, the other night-The next thing that they'll come out with,is a low-carb
beer!Sure as hell,the next night,there was an ad on for one.I think that it's made by Coors,but I'm not sure!I always,jokingly,
said to my wife-"Low Fat,Low Carb=Low Taste. Irish

Oh yeah, the fast food industry is cashing in big time. And that's really good for those of us trying to watch what we eat. But Mr. Sprinkles only gets paid once a month so we do very limited eating out. So as convenient as it is, I can't tack advantage of it very often.

Irish,
Fortunately for me my husband needs to lose weight too, and he's willingly changed his way of eating along with me. That's the main reason I was looking for some new and interesting recipes to try. I don't want him to get bored and start complaining that we're eating the same stuff every day. He's 5'8" and close to 280, I'm 5'1" and I'm ashamed to tell my weight. So we both need to do this.

BIBI,
Normally it's about $75 to join and then $29 per month, but they just started a 2/1 deal and since Cabrylla joined with me I only had to pay $37 sign up and $29 for the first month. Really not bad even at full price.

I lost about 60 pounds about a year/year n a half ago - the only thing I can reccomend is exercise. I've been overweight since I was a kid and i only lost weight when I was going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week and playing rugby twice a week.......I've put a bit back on over the last month or so (scummy ex-bf!!) but I'm getting my fat ass back to the exercise class so hopefully it'll disappear again!

SS---5'8"280?I guess you do need it.I'm 5'10"212/215 & the charts
say that I'm "obese".I work out everyday & there is no fat on me.
The charts are just a "general"guide. They say that the mirror,is your best judge. The charts don't factor that muscle weighs more
than fat! Irish
P.S.No excuse,but I'm also on insulin & my Diabetic Dr.,says that
insulin makes you heavier!

Irish, it's my husband who is 5'8", 280. And yes insulin does affect your weight.

Good grief.......

Here the registration fee is 200 dollars unless they have a special deal going on for 100 and the monthly fee is 49.00 without preauthorized payments monthly or 39.00 if you give them 12 postdated cheques.....I have yet to see any 2 for 1 deals. Oh but they do give you a nice tote bag if you sign up for the year deal!

BIBI, I think each area is different. I know prices on lots of things are much lower in Missouri. Plus each center is individually owned. I also found out it's against Missouri law to pay for an entire year at a time. The most they can accept is three months at a time. Also you have to figure in the rate of exchange too...

Curves is $75 here (in colorado) to start and $29 a month also. It's the same in Oregon and Idaho also. At least that's what my family has told me. I haven't joined yet but plan to at the end of the summer after I get back from vacation.

When I started in January it was $150 to join, plus $29+tax per month if you do a year commitment and check draft. If you do month to month it is $39.

BIBI - I think promotion is for the whole franchise, the way my local Curves is advertising it is $75 to join or two for one ($37 each). If you are interested, I would give your local place a call and see if they are doing that special it's a great deal.

And I can't complain one bit about what I am spending a month. I love going, and it's the only exercise I've ever stuck to for three months.

I'm not sure of the price, but my wife mentioned it(Curves)tonight!
My youngest daughter, works with her & mentioned to her(Wife)
that she would like it.My daughter can take her as a guest,to see
if she likes it,before she commits monetarily.I think that she said
something about $39.I'll get back to you when I find out more.I
,personally, don't care about the cost. The main thing is that you're
more liable to stick with something,if you like it.For example:I have
seen people spend, a small fortune,on home exercise machines &
they give up,because they DON'T get INSTANT results & end up
with a very expensive coat tree! Irish
