I had a reoccurring nightmare about monkeys that escaped from a circus that was in town and the started setting the town on fire.....i was running around trying to find somebody to help ...but the town was deserted!!
Monkeys are evil little bastards
Most of my other nightmares had fire as a main component somewhere

I stepped on a crunchy bug one day when I was about 6 or so, that night I had the worst nightmare .... I killed the bug, it came back to life a bit bigger, I killed it again, it came back a bit bigger and uglier, killed it again ... bigger, uglier and it talked to me .... I still have a hard time killing bugs because of that nightmare!!!!

My dad used to tell us about the "sandman" as a kid. He would come and put sleeping sand in our eyes to make us sleep. That was what we had in our eyes when we woke up
I used to have nightmares about him burying me alive cos I couldn't get to sleep sometimes. I woke up so frightened that I could hardly sleep all night LOL. It happened numerous times. Can still remeber quite vividly waking up one night and a motorbike went by and I was convinced it was the sandman and I hid behind the loungeroom couch for hours.
I certainly never told my kids about the sandman!!!

Theres only one childhood nightmare that i can remember, it started when i was about 6 and went on for 4-5 years, but the oddest part, is that i can only remember having it on Christmas Eve night.
I was in a big city, all alone, and very small, i would wander into a toy store, and be suddenly pushed around by screaming and bloodied people running for thier lives out of the store, but i would allways continue inside, i would wander alone, up and down the aisle's looking for something, yet never finding, but i would get to a certain point of the store and be suddely confronted with something 60ft tall, that had glowing eyes, and teeth the size of small cars, it vaguely resembld a T-Rex but much ulgier, and MUCH more frightening, i would run as fast as i could away from it, but all the rows upon rows i had just explored would twist and change before my eyes becoming some strange Labrynith, so i would just scream and run, never getting anywhere, until my monster would be right on my heels, it would swoop its head down over me, and proceed to close its jaws, with me witnessing the entire affair, and right before i would have felt the enourmous teeth pierce my body i always woke up, normally with my heart pounding, and sweat pouring down my face.
All i can say, is that i'm glad it came only once a year... but what a horrbile time for it to show itself.

I always dreamt someone was coming into the room to kidnap me and my sister. I woke up one night convinced there was someone in the room but it was just me and my bad eyesight mistaking the mess in my room for a man!
I also always dreamt of riding my bike down those steep hills in Newfoundland with no bloody brakes!
