Sugarsprinkles---Don't worry about it.I don't follow hockey;but;I
used to follow the Celtics; in the old;Larry Bird,Kevin McHale,
Robert Parrish,D.J.,etc.,days.It sounds like the Wings did;what the
Celtics used to do.They;got up for the big name teams;and won.
Against the teams;that they thought were no competition;they took them for granted and lost. Irish
P.S.Now;they won't take them for granted!

Too bad they didn't take the Pistons for granted more often...LOL
Took the Piston's forever to finally beat the Celtics....but when they did they went all the way to the Championship. Those were the "good old days" of basketball. I barely watch it anymore.

a Celtics game;without having a couple of beers.NOW I just can't
picture;watching a Celtics game!Speaking of the Pistons;did you
notice;that their old time;best player;is now the coach of the Pacers;after Larry Bird retired as their coach? Irish
P.S.Larry Bird will never get the"Father"of the year;award!

Yes, I know Isiah Thomas is coaching the Pacers. And I know you wouldn't know this, but Bill Laimbeer is now one of the broadcasters here locally for the Pistons games.
Don't mean to sound stupid, but why won't Bird get the "Father" of the year award???

Sugarsprinkles---Larry Bird has an illigitimate daughter;that he
supposedly treats like "shit."I don't know that much about it!They
were talking about;how he has constantly snubbed her wishes;on
a talk show;that I listen to;yesterday.They were also talking about;how Kid?;of the Nets;is a wife abuser.Bill Lambeer(sp?)The
man that everyone loves to hate.I remember him!I used to want
to climb into the TV;and kick his ass. What ;alot of people;didn't
realise(including myself);is that he was a deceptively good basket
ball player. Irish
P.S.I think that Larry Birds;out of wedlock;daughter;is about 16/17 now!

I see..that's really too bad. But I've seen talk shows in the past where they have said that the NBA is the worst of the major sports for athletes having and ignoring illegitimate children and abusing wives.

And he just loved being hated! I believe he actually cultivated that hatred. LOL And yes he was a very good player but also was living proof of the saying "White Men Can't Jump"! LOL

Which one, Svlad?? Stanley, coffee, or athletic???? My money's on either coffee or athletic...
Face it, they got lucky...it won't happen like that again! It was the first time since '89 (I think) that "Your" 'Canes have beaten the Red Wings. And how on earth are they "your" 'Canes when they're in Carolina and you're in Canada??? Just curious......

There must be a life besides sports.Just remember that;the
second place winner; is the first place LOSER! Irish
P.S.Unless you're a leader;the scenery is always the same!Take
sleddogs for example!

Sugarsprinkles, is there some reason why a person can't be a fan of a team that plays far away? I hate most of the Canadian teams. Besides, there are just as many Canadian players on the Hurricanes, like Ron Francis, for example.
I've been a Hartford Whalers fan from wayyyy back. There are lots of Boston and Hartford/Carolina fans in Canada. Those places are pretty close to here.
Go 'Canes!

No, Svlad, no particular reason. It just seemed unusual the way you referred to them as "my" 'Canes yet you don't live anywhere near them. It slipped my mind that they used to be in Hartford which is much closer to Canada than S. Carolina. It's much more common as you further mention to have Canadians who are fans of Boston and other teams that are close to Canada. And I know very well, too, that most of the teams have a majority of Canadian players.
I'm sorry if I was rude to you.
P.S. How do you pronounce your first name??

Nahh Sugar, you weren't rude.
And it's not my real name..."Svlad Cjelli" is a character from some books I like by Douglas Adams.
I have no idea how to pronounce it. Maybe Svlad doesn't either, since in the books he usually goes by the Americanized "Dirk".

I'm glad to know you didn't think me rude. I really wasn't trying to be.
What did you think of last night's game? I only saw the first period, Don Cherry and part of the second period live. I had to go to bed and fell asleep before the game finished. Did get to see the last two Wings goals on video tape. (We always tape the games if the Wings are in the Finals.)
Is it just me, or does anyone else think the refs are calling a whole lot of unnecessary penalties on both sides???

Gee, Irish...Do you really think I'm that much of a poor sport?

That assumes that I'm wearing one...LOL And I only do when I absolutely have to!
Besides, it's only one game....it can still go either way, although I do think the Wings will win.
