Tornadoes!
As of 2000 this evening, the tornado watch for my county has been lifted. Unprecedented numbers of confirmed tornadoes in the counties of Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. Fortunately, most of them have been minimal tornadoes, 80-100 mph winds, touching down for a few minutes at a time, then dissipating, 50-75 yards wide at ground level, that sort of thing. Nearest one to me touched down one town over. (Poolesville, MD). No reports of injuries from these storms reported (so far).
Authorities are still worried about flash flooding and storm damage from strong winds gusts. Current minimum of 13,000 people without power in the area. Heavy rains predicted for over night.
Not completely out of this yet, but things have calmed down by comparasion.
