VALENTINE’S DAY

Hearts are a-flutter, and that’s not all
Cards are on the table, with “I love you” in a fancy scrawl!
There’s wine getting chilled, and flowers smelling sweet.
There’s hugging in the kitchen as lips get close and meet.

Amazing that each 14th, in the month of February,
Our thoughts turn to joy and love, it’s almost kind of scary.
But the good news is that it kindles, in most of us I think,
How much we love our partners, and the closeness that we seek.

We cuddle in the morning, and get up a little late,
Holding each other close, like we used to on a date.
There’s something good about that thought that we never should let go,
It could become a habit that just might make this ol’ world glow.

Let’s put that thought to the test this year, let’s take our lover in our arms,
And shower them with romance, extolling all their charms.
Who knows, it might be catching and the world could change its ways,
Not just swords to plowshares, but warmth and love for all our days!
