Nice guys, huh?

Remember the ads by Phillip Morris (and other cigarette companies) telling us all the good things they are doing and how they want to help reduce teen smoking? In fact here's a statement on Phillip Morris' website today:

"In 1998, PM USA created a Youth Smoking Prevention (YSP) department with the objective of helping to prevent kids from smoking cigarettes.
We are committed to this effort because we firmly believe that kids should not smoke and, as a responsible company, we can play an important role in addressing this issue."

Now read this article: http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=pressre...29_nicotine.xml

Funny thing that since 1998, the nicotine levels in most all cigarettes have been raised and the levels in "Marlboro, Newport, and Camel, the three most popular brands chosen by young smokers...[and] Kool, a popular menthol brand (more than two-thirds of African American smokers use menthol brands)...all delivered significantly more nicotine.

Guess we can see where efforts of PM USA's Youth Smoking Prevention department (which as noted was coincidentally initiated in 1998) efforts were aimed.
