You all, as usual are terrific. And, CGT, not to worry. We had to practically *force* her to eat the peanut butter crackers at the hospital yesterday. She's never had peanut butter before, and she doesn't like it. She is, however, thrilled that she can now eat granola bars which "may contain traces of peanut." LMAO. As far as the others, we'd gradually already added those back in already. It was just that awful peanut one hanging over our heads.

That's terrific news IAKG. Even if she doesn't want peanut products...it's gotta be a huge relief not to worry about the history and trace content of every single thing she eats.

<--- does the happy dance for you!

I'm so glad for you and your daughter IAKG =)

that is good news indeed..

I never ever had any allergies when i growing up.. and still have yet to find any, but i know how bad it can suck. So it really pains me to see someone with an allergy like such..

Isn't it funny that some allergies are outgrown.I have heard severa times f people no longer being allergic to something they once were. This is great news, something less to worry about.Did you say she was allergic to soy and milk? I'll have to agree with Larry.Stunning and Drop Dead Gorgeous are two very accurate discriptions that come to mind.

She made sure I packed granola bars this morning for her weekend with her dad.

Yes, she also tested positive about two years ago for milk, chocolate, soy, and milk. Let me tell you...the three-year old birthday party at day care was something. Wanna hear about a wheat-free, soy-free, dairy-free carrot cake?

Yep, I used to be allergic to strawberries and chemical fertilizers we used here on the farm and I'm not anymore. So yeah you can outgrow them.

Mostly, the problem was her eczema, which her regular allergist/pulmonary doctor said is the most severe he's ever seen. I can't tell you the number of different medications/procedures we've tried to manage it and her viral-induced bronchiospasms. (Until yesterday, they'd hesitated to use the "A" word.) In looking at her medical records, I took her in at about 2 weeks old and was told it was "baby acne," but, of course things deteriorated from there. It's amazing to me how many health problems are inter-related. She has gone through two sets of ear tubes (first at 7 months) and had her tonsils out at 20 months of age. Those problems are also related to her chronic food and environmental allergies.

It is entirely possible to outgrow allergies, or to develop them at any time. I have a number of environmental allergies myself--most notably all trees, all grass, all weeds, and all outdoor molds--and had an egg allergy as a child. I've eaten eggs just fine for many, many years now. However, two winters ago I went for my flu shot and ended up with massive hives about 5-6 hours later. After some testing, it turns out that I'm allergic to the egg protein used in the shot. I can eat eggs just fine because the protein is cooked and altered. Go figure, especially since I'd had the flu shot just the year before with no reactions.
