Monday 10:00
My old pup has an abscess because he was a dumbass & ate yet another bone on the street. He's been having trouble getting up the stairs, he's pooped where he shouldn't have . . .
Nevertheless, he's a part of Pixies.
I'm taking him to the vet on Monday morning for the big needle.
PF & I have talked about it forever.
I don't know how I was lucky enough to have such a wonderful dog in my life but I was.
I'm off work next week so that will help with the grieving process.
The dog has had his pic taken with a couple of Pixies & was there in spirit for PAGAN. I feel he's a part of this site, too (even though his nudie shots weren't what WI was looking for)
Thank you to all the Pixies who thought Solon was one of us. Nickster was ahead of his time.

A couple years ago Solon was showing the sad signs of hips going. He’s a big guy and I know that 10 years old made him a senior dog, so when he had taken a short turn for the worst, I shared with Steph the sad last days for my smaller Kelly of 16 years. He sustained the crisis of the moment and his decline has been very gentle. Shortly after that another of our Pixies lost a family dog and I spelled out the double hurt of waiting too long to be kind to a loved pet.
After being with Solon exactly 2 weeks ago and watching him happily and dutifully struggle with the steps to her place I recognized the state of canine senility that isn’t noticeable (or desired to be noted) on a daily basis. When she told me of this current situation and the vet saying that it require being put under for an oral operation, we both knew that alone would be less than a 50/50 chance of coming back.
We’ve discussed where love and consideration for them separates from ourselves. I prefer to recall Solon as I came to know him and hope Steph is able to find comfort equal to her courage and kindness for him.
…. Even though I hate her,

Steph,
We're so sorry to hear about your dog. It was a beautiful animal and we know from our cats how attached we can be. They're more than pets, they truly are part of the family.
You'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

Steph,
Having just gone through that a few weeks ago with my pup - I really feel for you. I know how hard it is to lose them...PM if you feel like commiserating....
