I will fondly remember Kirby Puckett the baseball player. His heroics repeatedly ruined things for my Tigers especially in '87. He was fun to watch and truly loved the game.

In his later years his on the field persona came under attack due to off the field problems including divorce, sexual assault and other problems. Still he was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame.

His career was cut short due to glaucoma, but Kirby was and will always be one of the greats of the game

More than the ball player I remember the man. He was a man's man and a hero to many - one of the good guys who was a hero to many
