Mosquito Repellant?
Anyone have any ideas on what I can use as a mosquito repellant? I am allergic to Deet and so far most of what I have tried - Avon stuff, citronella stuff, dryer sheets, those little battery operated things that make a sound like a dragon fly to scare the damn things.. <rolls eyes> just don't seem to work for me.
We our recent rains and being in the country where there is a lot of standing water in ditches and farm fields, I am pretty much stuck inside as there are literally clouds of them just waiting for my sweet self to walk out the door..

A neighbor used to keep a jar with rubbing alcohol, rosemary, and other pungent herbs steeping on a fence post near her garden so she could just slap it on and do her gardening. She swore by it.

LOL.. I swear - pretty soon they are going to attach themselves and take off with a person!!! These things are HUGE!!! They are bigger than a horse fly.. some of them are zebra striped...
Maybe this is an idea for a movie... instead of "The Birds" we can have "Invasion of the Mosquitos" lol
There is an herbal store in the town that we go to - I might just check with them and I will get back with ya!

Well here Cheyanne, we are thinking of making the mosquito our state bird! They are fat... and when you slap them, enough blood explodes out of them to fill an IV!
Anyway, the other night i was eating a raw rhubarb stalk and for the heck of it, rubbed the juice on one arm...... and not a bite....... but further experimentation is needed. Let me know how you make out......... there's always that stinky Uncle Ben's stuff! Even Cobalt won't nibble on ya then!

LOL @ Coaster....I would be ok with stinking if they would leave me alone and allow me to look at my flowers! I keep thinking about that old tobasco commercial - the one where this guy is sitting on a porch eating a taco or something and sprinkles tobasco on it and takes a bite.. he watches a mosquito land on his arm and sucks some blood.. then the mosquito flys off and blows up..

A diet high in garlic. and NO bananas! Both make your sweat have an odor that mosquitos can pick up on. They like the sweet in bananas but don't like the garlic odor.

No DEET? I wouldn't have any blood left.
Good luck
