speaking of handy What hobbies do you have? Do you make things?
I make beaded jewelry and know some people like SS quilt. I was curious what else people here do and would love to see pics of your handiwork?

Here's some pics of the type of things I make... I like to make jewelry I think people could actually wear, not too fancy but not plain either. But it's the stones that I love best about it all.

Ooh Lilith, very pretty stuff.
I got into soap making when I was about 16--not the kits you buy in the store to melt the glycerin soap, but starting with oil and lye and ending up with soap. It's tedious but all my friends love it.
I dont have any pics, but the next time I make it I can take some.

It's not really my hobby...since I do it for a living as well...but I am pretty handy at reupholstering. I'm right in the middle of taking apart two tall-backed chairs I have in my dining room. They've been in the family for years (since Mr. Lixy was a little boy...maybe even before he was born), and though they were built very well (they don't make um like they used to), the original fabric is in a disgusting state of affairs. I have started taking off the old upholstery. I've made the patterns for the seats from the original seats. I have the textile I am going to use to recover them. And, I even took a few pics of the process thus far. I just haven't uploaded the pics to the puter yet because I want the whole process in one folder and it's easier and less time consuming to do it from one launch than to do it pic by pic. I'll show ya everything when I get the job done...but don't hold your breath cause I've been known to procrastinate this kinda stuff BECAUSE I do it all day at work. LOL!
Geezzzzzz Lil...I love your bead work! Absolutely beautiful pieces!

I make fleece blankets... they are the no sew (tied sides) version which are quite simple to make, but look quite nice when completed. I've not taken any pictures, but they are fun to make something that is taylored to someone else's tastes ... everyone gets one for Christmas this year.

i'm sorta generally crafty. a little of this, a little of that. making something useful or decorative from scraps of fabric or wood or whatever is handy, refinishing old furniture (love the final product don't really love the process), making wreaths from grapevines...etc... i've worked with potters clay and wheel (i'd love to have one here in the house and a kiln), stained glass, jewelry, batik. i love to draw with pencils, old fashioned quill and ink and oil pastels. and i like to paint, especially watercolors.
beautiful jewelry, lil. very nice craftsmanship. do you sell them?

Yay Cherrypie - I make soap too! Well, I actually haven't done any for quite a while, because as you say it's tedious, and I struggle to get the time and money for ingredients, but it's something I love. I've actually concentrated more on cosmetics like lip balms, hand creams, etc of late, but have promised myself I'm going to do more soap in the new year.
I also love to cook and make/ decorate cakes for special occasions.
However my biggest hobby is not something I make but something I do - this:-

I'm performing in Pantomime all this week.

I also knit and crochet, but have been neglecting those hobbies in favor of quilting for a couple of years. I finally got back to my crocheting and finished a project I've been working at off and on for about 9 yrs.

Most definitely!!! I used to work on it in my spare time, in between other projects. Then it sat for a year in my son's garage, and for another year after it finally got brought down here. Only needed two more squares made and the last 3 rows assembled and attached. I'm just so glad it's done. And it's ALL MINE!! I'm not giving it away like I do most things I make.

As promised...I got some pics too!
WOW! You guys are so talented! I love seeing all the creativness here at Pixies.
I wanted to contribute to this thread as well...so here goes...
Here's one of the wing back chirs my mother-in-law gave me (I have a pair). This is it in it's original state...never been worked on...around since the dawn of lime green velvet textile. So, you see why I had to reupholster it...eh?
