VETERANS DAY


Browns and greens,
Blues and whites,
With trim of every color,

Gold and silver
Shining bright,
On their shoulders and their collars.

Shoes that glisten,
Swords that shine,
Stomachs firm and tight.

These are the folks
From across the land,
Who guard us with their life.

Serving us, unselfishly,
Tireless as they stand,
Watching at the ramparts, guarding us from evil’s hand.

On the eleventh day of month eleven, the clock strikes double one,
Freedom's gate remains secure
From the battles they have won.

Take off your hats,
Hands on your heart,
As these valiant ones pass by.

Show them how you honor them,
As they hold our flag up high,
For stopping those that hate us and yearn to see us die.

Our nation stands secure this day,
Our flag waves through the night,
Thanks to their strength and courage and being freedom’s light.
