I thought it was Midsummer's Day, not the first day of summer....when is midsummer's day then?

Loulabelle, yesterday was the solstice, therefore the first day of Summer, according to current understanding. We use a four-season year.
The idea of solstice as "midsummer" comes from the ancient Germanic understanding of a two-season year. Winter & summer. Equinoxes would therefore, mark the beginning of the seasons, with the solstices marking the mid-season.
So, in fact, yesterday was both the first day of summer, and the middle of summer. Just depends on your point of view.
Either way, hope the holy day was a good one for peeps.

i too communed with nature in honor of this day - the day that heralds the days to come … days crammed with the lushly moist, fragrantly sticky, heady excess in witch nature so wildly indulges herself this time of year.
