Redoing the basement
So my husband and I are beginning to finish the basement in our new house. Any advice from any of you that have done this before?

My Dad is starting to redo ours as a recreational room with a pool table and full bar

That's really similar to what we're doing. So far, we've got it wired and we have the bar framed up.

Sounds super LAW. 
Be careful about planing for that pool table. They can be deceiving. You have to add a minimum of 5 ft. on ALL sides (with no posts). That means the space for that 8 ft. table just became 18 ft..
