I Don't Get It!

It's prolly been talked about somewhere, since the format change, but I can't figure it out. I don't understand why some thread titles are bold and others aren't and later as I peruse more and more it seems different ones become bold or all are bold or all are not...and so on. It doesn't seem to be just the ones I look at or reply to even.

What's up with that? Geezzzzzz...does that ^^^ even make sense? LOL!

LixyChick,

I believe that a thread title which is bold indicates that there have been posts to the thread since the last time you browsed it. I also believe that it corresponds to the icon to the left of the thread title, the open envelope.

Once you follow the link by clicking on the title, and browse the thread, when you return to the forum thread list, the thread title will be displayed in normal style and the icon will change to a closed envelope, indicating that there is nothing new in the thread.

I think this evaluation is performed each time the forum thread list page is sent from the server to your browser. That may explain why a thread title which was displayed in normal style when you followed some other thread is displayed in bold style when you next return to the forum thread list.

This reevaluation is performed if you return by clicking the Forum Jump Go button in the lower left corner of the thread page. This reevaluation will probably not be performed if you return by clicking the Back button on you browser, as you browser will load the page from its local cache on your machine.

^^^^^^ what he said is correct, thread title in bold indicates unread messages in there.. if you use the "back" option in the browser to return to the list you need to refresh the screen to force a new read (and have your browser set to check for changes at each reload)
