I had a good time, with the exception of my aunt who drove us there. She was very bitchy all weekend, and pretty much brought down our fun when she was around.
We told her that next time, she can drive seperatly, or she can endure riding with us.
She started out by telling us on saturday morning that she wasn't going to be able to stay for both days, and we'd be on our own for finding transportation home today. Then my grandma told her she sure as hell wasn't leaving us stranded there.
Then when she wanted a nap, we offered to go without her, and use her car (which is brand new- and my Grandma bought
for her). She freaked out, and told us no one else gets to drive her car.
When we wanted to stop at a shop, she'd roll her eyes, and whine for the entire time we were in there.
The last night, we got my neice and daughter to sleep about 10:30, and I stayed up reading, in my corner of the room which was kitty corner to her's. My small light was the only one on, and for the next 40 minutes, I had to hear "Are you done yet, I need to sleep tonight, and I'm serious". SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM!
Ok, other than her, we had a great time. We went swimming friday night because we were running late when we got there. Then saturday, we went and Raegan made a stuffed wolf at a shop that offered a build-a-bear. Then, we went outlet shopping.
I spent 93.00 at one store, and got 5 short sets and a dress for Gilly, 2 shirts, and 2 short sets for Raegan, and 2 short sets for Chris. Then, I went to the Correll/Pyrex outlet, and got a set of 4 glasses to match our dishes, because we were down from 8 to 3 from the original set. Those were 1.45 each, and then a 2 qt clear amethyst mixing bowl by pyrex for only $2.29!
I got a huge book of all of the original Sherlock Holmes stories, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Hmm.. I got some pj's for both girls at a Carter outlet, and matching shorts and shirts for the girls at an Osh Kosh outlet.
I spent waaaaaaaay too much, but the kids have ALL of their summer clothes now, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 more for Chris.
Then, me, my ex-sil, and the two girls went and saw Mean Girls, while cranky aunt and my grammy went to take naps. Afterwards, we took the kids to a place called Beebee's, which is kind of like a chuck e cheese. Except, instead of that huge maze of tunnels, balls, and slides, Beebee's has a foam ball cage. There are 2 levels to it, and all sorts of air powered canons, popcorn machines, guns, and what not. You take the foam balls, and let em fly all over the place.
They enjoyed that a lot. I took them both swimming again last night, then this morning, instead of leaving at 8 am with my crazed aunt, I had Nick drive to Frankenmuth and pick me and Rae up, which would give us time to do stuff we wanted today, with him.
What I don't like, is that I wanted 2 days this time instead of 1, because we're always rushed from 1 place to the next. So, we get there really late friday, which shot friday out of the water, then she wants to leave at 8am on sunday, which kills sunday. So, basically, we paid for 2 nights when really, 1 would have been just fine.
So, today with Nick, we took him to Beebee's, and there's also a mirror maze near it that we went to and played in. Then we went window shopping, and picked up some fudge... ok, a pound of fudge (each 'slice' at a fudge shop is 1/4 a pound, we got 4 slices- 1 cookies n creme, 1 peanut butter, and 2 chocolate).
We went shopping to the downtown district, and saw fudge being made, and went into a arcade that features games and amusements from the turn of the century, with a mix of newer games from the 80's and 90's.
I don't think I ever really realized just
how creepy the clowns, and circus stuff, looked from the turn of the century. They don't
look happy. They look like homicidial murderers. I don't believe I'd like to be there after dark with no lights. I can definatly see a horror story being set in that setting. Lights coming on by themselves, mechanical parts moving, eyes looking back and forth... etc, etc.
So, over all, today was GREAT. Yesterday was... good, but had potential to have been fun, had it not been for
her.
